I don’t know if the writers are trying to write Sandy out or not, but lately I have been getting that impression. She used to be a main character like Patrick, Squidward, and Mr. Krabs. In seasons four and five (and perhaps season six, though it’s too soon to tell), she seems to have been reduced to a secondary character, like Pearl. There are only a couple episodes featuring her with a prominent role in seasons four and five.
The show feels less rounded with her absence. There is already a lack of female characters to begin with. I guess I’m just ranting, but I miss her being a main character. We need more classic episodes like “Ripped Pants.”
Who else has noticed her role gradually diminishing? I sure hope season six is an improvement ...

I think everyone here's caught on. I have no firsthand experience (I don't get Nickelodeon), but I take their word for it...

There is probably a good reason for this (mainly goes towards Season Five) but it’s something nobody seems to think about. To make an episode you need people to do all the voices, including Sandy’s, so maybe Carolyn Lawrence *Sandy’s Voice* is just a little bit busy at present.

That would be a good explanation. It's better than the one I fear ... some Nick people doing focus testing and Sandy getting poor ratings. I know an instance of another show where it was discovered in focus testing that a character was unpopular and they told the creator to not use him anymore

If that's true, poor Sandy!

Nah, instead of getting rid of her altogether. They aren’t using her that much anymore. Also then again out of all the main characters (Spongebob, Sandy, Patrick, Squidward, Mr. Krabs & Plankton) she has been the most under used one in every season so far. If they do get rid of her, then all of this would have been a waste of time :’-(

It would be really sad if Sandy dissapeared alltogether. I'm just waiting for nick to do something stupid like make an episode where Sandy, like, moves back to texa, or something. That would be terrible, but nick is making it look possible. ;(

The thing is, they need her sort of character in there. Because if they didn't have her amongst the cast, half of the episodes wouldn't be possible. Having a land critter, living with the underwater critters, gives the writers more to explore on. Getting rid of her, would narrow there options greatly :-)
