I did this when I was bored, so... here it is.
"Ha! I beat you fair and square Squarepants!" Sandy shouted, after she had slammed Spongebob on the ground for a final blow in karate. Spongebob got up, and quickly brushed himself off.
"But that makes no sense, because I'm the one that's square here!" Spongebob said, as Sandy shook her head in defeat.
"Whatever." She said, looking around the area. They were right outside of Spongebob's pineapple on a Sunday morning, the perfect and most sunny day there had been in weeks. Spongebob and Sandy stood there for a few awkward moments, until Sandy cleared her throat to rid the silence. "So um-- whatcha wonna do now? It's the perfect day to do whatever we want! Ya'll don't have to work right?"
"That's right." Spongebob replied, with a small smile. "The Krusty Krab is closed on Sundays, except for that one time when we were open 24 hours a day, and I almost--"
"Er, I don't wonna know." Sandy said, taking off her karate gloves, and laying them on the ground. "Let's just do somethin', OK?"
"Of course, but before we do anything, could you go inside and do something for me?" Spongebob asked, as Sandy put this pitiful look on her face. "Oh come on! Please? I just need you to give Gary some food, and that's it!"
"He's your pet, why don't you do it? Oh fine. Where's his bowl and the food?" Sandy sighed, and headed to the front door of the pineapple.
"His food is by the fridge, and his bowl is usually in the middle of the floor in the kitchen." Spongebob explained, as Sandy slammed the door behind her. "Wait, why did I ask Sandy anyway? Huh, I must be getting lazy..."
Sandy, while muttering to herself, finally found the jumbo bag of Snail-Po by the fridge.
"You better eat this Gary..." She said to herself, as she was getting ready to put some in his bowl. But something else caught her eye, and made her forget what she was doing, and drop the food bag altogether.
There, by the sink, was Spongebob's diary. It looked as though Spongebob had tried to get some stain off of it, due to the soaking cover and some matted pages. Sandy slowly picked it up, scared if Spongebob would jump up behind her and yank it from her hands.
"Spongebob's so nutty. Why would that critter try and wash a book?" Sandy asked herself, trying to get the cover open without tearing it up altogether. The book started with a small drawn picture of all his friends, Sandy, Patrick, Squidward, and Mr.Krabs. They were all standing together, with crooked smiles and happy expressions on their faces.
Sandy suddenly shut the book, and threatened to karate chop herself. "Why would I want to read Spongebob's diary anyway? I mean, it's not mine." Sandy looked at the book again, then shut her eyes so she wouldn't be tempted. "But something tells me I should." Sandy slowly opened it again, passing the picture again, and to the first date:
Dear Diary,
Cheers for first entry in this book! I just got you yesterday, and I hope to write down all my wonderful adventures with my friends and here! And good news. I FINALLY got a job! Right down the road, at the good ol' Krusty Krab. And guess what else? Squidward works there too! It'll be so fun, serving hungry citizens of Bikini Bottom together! I gotta split, Gary wants me to feed him again! Until next time diary!
Sandy couldn't help but smile, for she never really knew when Spongebob began working at the Krusty Krab in the first place. She skipped a few dates, then stopped at one randomly:
Dear Diary,
I met this REALLY cool girl today! Her name is Sandy, and she breathes "air". I really have no idea what that is, but I hope to find out soon! She seems really nice... and pretty... wait, um, forget I said the last one! I'll get back to you diary!
Sandy turned pink, and she shook her head to clear her thoughts. She remembered that day, like it wasn't almost 10 years ago, and was only yesterday. They had been friends for a long time, Sandy realized. She skipped half way through the book, to a very recent date:
Dear Diary,
I wasn't King of Karate after all. That one video tape I told you about was just a scam to get me and Sandy to buy condos on "Karate Island". But Sandy beat up the fish that tricked us, and saved me. I wish I could be the hero that could save her for once, and not the wimp watching in the sidelines. You know how the superhero always saves the girl in trouble? I hope to save Sandy like that someday. Maybe she'll think more of me if I do... and then we'll be King and Queen of Karate! Together! See you later!
Sandy jumped, and almost dropped the book. What did he mean by "King and Queen of Karate"? Did it have another meaning to it that she couldn't see? Sandy turned beet red, and tried to flip through the pages again. One of them was stuck, so she had to pull it really hard. Almost ripping it, it unstuck, and she could read the messy, hurried writing:
Dear Diary,
Sorry for my handwriting, but my heart is going a million miles a minute! Sandy got back from her Science Convention in Texas, and she brought back a "flea". It sounded really nice and cool at first, but I soon found out it was a blood-thirsty multiplying like crazy creature! All of the fleas ruined the party, and made me itchy for weeks. They ate Sandy's flea collar, so we had to let all the water inside to rid them all. I will never get Sandy to like me at this rate. She probably thinks I'm a goof who can't even pass his own driving test... bye for now...
"Sandy...?"
Sandy quickly dropped the book, and spun around to see Spongebob standing there with a blank look on his face.
"Did you feed Gary yet?" Spongebob asked, as Sandy turned red again. Spongebob froze when he saw his diary by Sandy's side. "W-what's my diary doing here?" Sandy felt like running away, or hiding somewhere safe. She couldn't believe what she had just read: Spongebob had a big crush on her. Why didn't she realize this before?
"I-I saw it by the sink and--" Sandy stopped, and decided to ask him exactly what she wanted to know. "Is what all you wrote in there true? About me... and-- you?"
Spongebob gulped, and slowly picked up his diary, and flipped through the pages. "I-- you read it?" Sandy bit her lip, and nodded slowly. "Oh boy... I can't--"
"It's OK, I didn't read much..." Sandy said quietly. "Enough to find out a lot." Spongebob slowly hid the book under the fridge, and turned back to Sandy.
"I--I understand if you don't feel the same way..." Spongebob said, close to tears. "No one knew about that, just me, and my diary. "I-I've just...always felt that way. Sandy you don't understand, you're the only girl that's ever understood me, or excepted me for the way I am--"
"Uh, you can stop now." Sandy said, blushing a little. "It's just that... I kinda...feel the same way." Sandy quickly covered her mouth, like she told a huge secret that was imprisoned inside her for almost a decade. In fact, she had been hiding that inside of her for almost a decade.
Spongebob's eyes went wide, then he looked like he was going to fall over.
"Did--Did I say something wrong?" Sandy asked, a little worried for her spongey friend.
"No, no! It's just that I never expected you to ever feel the same way." Spongebob explained, sliding onto the floor. "That's why I never told you, and just kept my thoughts in that diary." He looked up at Sandy, who was staring sadly at the floor. "I-I was just... afraid of the way you would react I guess..."
"Spongebob, you know you can tell me anything." Sandy exclaimed, coming to sit beside him. "Even with something like that. I should have told you too. I guess we were just...afraid." Spongebob nodded slowly, then looked up at her again.
"So.... does this mean, we're dating now?" His eyes brightened at the thought of the both of them more than just friends, going on dates together; not caring about what anyone thought about the two of them.
"I guess so!" Sandy replied with a grin. Spongebob seemed relieved, as the two of them continued to sit there in silence. "We're 'Queen and King of Karate' now."
"Wait, what?" Spongebob asked, a little nervous again. Sandy laughed, and ran out of the room, heading out of the house. Gary then slithered over, looking hungry and annoyed.
"Meow?!" He asked, with a pitiful look on his face.
"Sorry Gary, but I've got things to do!" Spongebob shouted, running in the direction Sandy had ran away to.
Gary sighed, and lay by his bowl, waiting for his love-struck master to return.
The End
