This was a very difficult list to make. There are so many bad episodes in Season 5 and so far in Season 6 that I could have been put on this list. The worst episodes in my mind are the ones that suggest another pairing besides SBxSC. Here are my Worst 10 Episodes

I think there are several reasons why the new episodes are generally regarded as being worse the than older episodes.
1. The Writers.
I have several complaints... They are turning Sandy into a minor character even though she is SpongeBob's original best friend! We haven't had an episode where SpongeBob and Sandy were alone together since "Karate Island".
They are making the characters too one dimensional. For instance, SpongeBob has become increasingly childish and naive in these new episodes (the worst case of this occurred in the episode "Waiting" where he cries because his toy broke). Patrick is becoming dumber by the hour!. Mr. Krabs has been turn into a pathetic joke because all he seems to be interested is money (you would understand what I mean if you watch "Penny Foolish").
There also has been an increasing number of episodes involving Plankton. Although I like Plankton, I do not need to see him in every episode! For instance, if you have seen "Bucket Sweet Bucket" I think you would agree that this episode made no sense and should never have been created.
Every episode seems to take place at the Krusty Krab. What happened to places like the Goo Lagoon or Sandy's treedome?
I know it is difficult to create original ideas, but the writers should not keep relying on "Krabs vs. Plankton", "SpongeBob annoying Squidward", or "SpongeBob and Patrick playing together" plots. There should be more episodes with SpongeBob and Sandy together and more Mermaidman and Barnacle Boy episodes.
The writers are also trying to be "too funny"... they are more focused on writing jokes than they are on writing a good story. The writers need to realize that some of the best episodes did not have many jokes (ex: "F.U.N.", "Bubblestand", etc). As a consequence, we see Patrick everywhere because he is suppose to be "comic relief".
2. The Voices:
I am not blaming the voice actors because it has nothing to do with them...they are still very good. However, I do not like the sound of their voices in the new episodes. It appears that Nick "upgraded" their sound/voice equipment after they made the movie. This new equipment is responsible for making SpongeBob's voice annoying to hear.
3. The Animation:
Although the animation is "better" in the new episodes it actually kinda takes away from the show. It is hard to explain... the animation seems "too perfect". I wish they would go back to the animation style in Season 3.
I will probably think of more complaints, but this all I can think of right now.

That's pretty covers much of all the stuff I can think of...(In terms of stuff I starting to hate about about the newer episodes.)

I should be more fair to the writers. The writers are constrained by Nick. Every episode idea must be approved by Nick. If you have watched Nicktoons from the early 1990's you should notice a dramatic difference in the amount of adult content that Nick allows. Nick allows much less adult content now than they allowed in the past.

We can all point to the movie as the beginning of the decline. Obviously, the biggest problem was that Sandy played virtually no role in it. Another problem is that the movie focused on SpongeBob and Patrick's quest to become men. This was a horrible idea! SpongeBob and Patrick are in their 20's!!! The worst moment of the movie came when SpongeBob and Patrick burst into song after hearing a girl (Mindy) telling them that they have become men. They sung about becoming men-I want to throw up! I was also horrified when I saw the tears of Patrick and SpongeBob form a heart.

Oh my gosh! Me to! If only Spongebob really knew how to really become a man..(If you know what I mean.) XD Yeah, to at least get a girlfriend... (stares at Sandy) I agree with both of you 10000000000000000%. We are agreeing a lot in this discussion. We know that SpongeBob can get treat a girl well when he decides to do so. In "Chocolate and Nuts" he wines and dines two old women at a fancy restaurant and we all see what he did in "To Love a Patty". The problem is that SpongeBob does not realize that Sandy is his for the taking! Pixie... I know what you are talking about . I agree 10 billion %, it would be my favorite episode ever if they made it.
