I know, I know. A lot of post-movie episodes aren't that great. But a wise person once told me that there are no such things as bad cartoons. There are only such things as cartoons you don't like. In my current opinion (and after unearthing my season 4 DVD set), some of the post-movie episodes were not that bad, they were just missing some of that old SpongeBob magic (I really want to make a comparison to something else, but I'll just shut up about that now). Do you have any favorites? Here's some of my faveorite post-movie episodes.
Krusty Towers - Come on, the scene where Patrick's room is covered in cheese is hilarious. Admit it. I loved the facial expressions used here, too. Not to mention, Mr. Krabs was at least tolerable in this one.
Sing a Song of Patrick - For a short episode, this one was really lulzy. It went back to the classic Sponge humor, y'know? Sight gags, crazy schemes, and some pretty good one-liners (''Didja see that guy's ears?'' ''Yeah! I didn't know they could turn inside out like that!''). Not to mention the dodgeball scenes. Ooooooh the dodgeball scenes. XD
Fear of a Krabby Patty - Another good episode with hilarious facial expressions and great lines (''SpongeBob, I want ye to - BLABSDHAFHJDSFH.'' ''I'm sorry Mr. Krabs, could you repeat that?'' ''Right, I said BLABSDHAFHJDSFH.'' ''Uh-huh. That's what I thought you said. Now let me offer this as a rebuttal; AAAAAAAAH!''). I get all giggly when I think about this one. The animation wasn't bad either. It was a rare post-movie example of good squat-n'-stretch, which you don't see much on SpongeBob anymore (IMO, the characters look just a bit stiff).
Squidward's Tiki Land - I just really like this one because of the musical number. And the fact that the slash was toned down quite a bit. The only thing slightly slashy was when they all danced in a circle.
Dunces and Dragons - Love, love, love, love, LOVE this episode for SOOOOO many reasons. One, Sandy plays a major role. Two, Pearl isn't annoying (killer Star Wars reference with the hair, though XD). Three, SpongeBob showed more than two emotions. Four, Squidward had things almost go his way most of the time. And five, another great use of squat-n'-stretch. This is one of my all-time favorite episodes. I even had the Burger King toys!
Pest of the West - I have a thing for flashback-esque episodes. It was cool to see Bikini Bottom in a different light; where everyone was scared of Plankton. It also gave a little more substance to characters like Mrs. Puff. She actually showed more personality traits than paranoia and a fear/hate of all things Spongy. I die every time at the purposely badly drawn scene of SpongeBob and Patrick saying ''DUUUUUURRRRR.'' And once again, one-liners. I loved the one-liners.
Friend or Foe - It was nice to see a reason behind the Plankton vs. Krabs thing. I really felt bad for Mr. Krabs for the first time ever, y'know? I guess it's because I relate to being teased for the clothes you wear to school. The Nick Magazine in-depth scoop issue on their friendship was great too.
SpongeBob vs. The Big One - Johnny Depp. Johnny Depp. Johnny Sweet Merciful Lord of Awesome Depp. I love that guy so much (not just because of his looks). Despite that really weird ''I didn't even get to tell him...'' thing, it was pretty funny. ''Beeline for the Treeline'' is now one of my favorite songs. Oh, and guess what? GREAT. ONE. LINERS. And facial expressions. OOOOOOH, THE FACIAL EXPRESSIONS. XD
Aaaand, that's all I can think of right now! So, what are some of your favorites?
