The title may be changed...^^
A/N: Well, this story was a long time coming. ^^ It was originally meant to be a sequel to an earlier fanfic of mine, Welcome to Texas, but I completely disregard (and despise) that story, so this is now a stand-alone story. But my OC’s are still gonna show up, although they have gone through a few makeovers…Stacey Cheeks is less random and a more very *friendly* person, for one…XD
There are two things this story is based on:
1.) An amazing book called The Girl of the Sea of Cortez, written by Peter Benchley. Yes, Peter Benchley also wrote Jaws, but this book is not a horror. I’m not sure what it is; I think it could be an adventure or a coming-of-age story, but I dunno. All that I do know is that the book is amazing and a good environment/machinery tale and I highly recommend it to you all. It is one of my fave books.
2.) My experiences during my senior trip to South Padre. That trip was one of the best weeks of my life; just so entertaining and amazing and breath-taking and, at times, might I say, quite romantic. Shame I had no one to share it with, but it was still romantic.
And, of course, I add in a bunch of stuff and situations from my very imaginaaaation. *hand rainbow!*
With that, let us commence on our journey to Bikini Bottom; and from there, to South Padre Island…

Well, here's the first official chapter. Dunno if anyone will read it, but still...^^
Not a very interesting beginning, but don't worry; the next chapters will be more interesting.
It began the day that Sandy got an invitation from her mother.
“Oh, it’s THAT time of year again already?” Sandy muttered as she opened the envelope and read the card.
It was quite a simple message: an invitation to a family reunion on South Padre Island in her home state of Texas. For as long as Sandy could remember, her family had taken trips to South Padre for one week each May. That was where her pa had taught her how to snorkel and SCUBA dive, as well as teach her about all the creatures in the ocean and how to treat them with respect and care. It was these trips that had given her heart during those awkward teenage years every young woman goes through, and it was these trips that helped her remember that her dream was to be a world-renowned marine biologist. So, one could say, it was these family trips to South Padre that had gotten her to where she was now.
As of late, however, she had not gone. At first, it was because she was so busy with her studies and inventing machines for the Chimps. When the Chimps finally lightened her working load, Sandy had gotten out of the habit of going. Perhaps she would not have gone this year if her ma hadn’t added the line: You may bring four friends from Bikini Bottom, Sandy.
Sandy knew instantly that she wanted SpongeBob to go with her; they used to talk about visiting Texas together, ever since the day they realized he could breathe on land (simply not in the vacuum-sealed Treedome). She also remembered that Patrick had mentioned a couple of times that he wanted to visit ‘all the pretty horses in Texas.’ How Patrick knew what a horse was, she had never asked. She considered for a second inviting Larry, but quickly cast that thought aside; she remembered that Larry had misgivings about the surface world, considering that lobster was a highly sought-after dish there. Deep down, she knew that Squidward would certainly get along with her sister, Stacey; they both, after all, enjoyed dancing. And Mr. Krabs would most likely get along well with her ma; and, ever since the incident last year, her ma needed as many friends as she could meet.
The incident last year. Sandy quickly put that from her mind; that was the last thing she had ever wanted to think about. She quickly made a few phone calls to Mr. Krabs, Squidward, Patrick, and SpongeBob, respectively. When each person answered, she said something along the lines of, “Howdy! It’s Sandy. Ya wanna go to Texas with me two weeks from now?”
Their replies went something like this:
Mr. Krabs: “Oh, sure, I will! I gotta fumigate the Krusty Krab anyway! And I’m sure Pearl will be fine for a week without me! If she tries anything, she knows I’m gonna take her allowance away!”
Squidward: “You would rather I leave my comfort zone to go up on dry land? Well, I suppose I got enough time to kill. As long as SpongeBob and Patrick aren’t coming along, those barnacle heads.” (Of course, Sandy refrained from telling him that they were, probably, coming along.)
Patrick: “Sure! Uh….what?”
SpongeBob: “Well, of course I’ll go with you, Sandy! I’d go anywhere with you…”
Sandy wasn’t sure what SpongeBob meant by ‘anywhere with you,’ but she was glad that they all could (and would) be going with her. They would have fun, she knew; it was nothing but fun at South Padre!
Unless, of course, your enemy was going to be there. Sandy didn’t know this; but if she had, then it is quite possible that she and her friends would never had set off on the life-changing adventure.
YAYZ.

*hates double posting* It's sad how fanfiction never gets finished. I rarely finish anything I write.
...(sighs)
