Ok, this is not my first fan fic, but I thought I'd put it here before FF.net. It doesn't have a lot of SBXSC in it (just a tiny bit near the end), but I think you'll enjoy it anyway. Well, here it is!
Money Savers
The phone rings at Spongebob's house. He picks it up.
“Hello?”
“Howdy, Spongebob!”
“Oh, Sandy. I'm glad you called.”
“Something wrong?”
“Yeah, I just got the electric bill. It went up, AGAIN!”
“Hold on, I'll be right there!”
Later, behind the pineapple...
“Hmmm...I think I've found the problem.” Sandy says, reading the electric meter. “You seem to be using a lot of energy on everyday items. I think I can help you.”
“Thanks!”
They head inside to start making the place more energy smart.
“Ok, let's start with one of the simplest ways to make your house more eco-conscious. This!” She holds up a white, glass spiral.
“What's that?”
“This, is a fluorescent light bulb. These use less energy than a regular filament bulb. These could save you a lot of money in the long run. Plus, they last longer, so you don't have to change them as often!”
“Great! Let's replace all of the lights in the house!”
They do so.
“Ok, what's next?”
“Another way to make this place more efficient, is to replace these old, warn out appliances. Back on land, we have this little thing called “Energy Star”. It's basically a rating for energy-efficient consumer products, like appliances, TVs and other electronics, and even windows and doors.”
“Wow, how do I know if they qualify?”
“Just look for the “Energy Star” logo on the product. I'll take you to an appliance store to show you some examples.”
They go to a store called “Big Ron's Appliance Outlet”.
“So, it seems the “Energy Star” program has been adapted down here, too. That's good.”
“Wow, I had no idea!”
They walk up to a stainless steel refrigerator.
“You see this here refrigerator? This one has the “Energy Star” rating, it's right here on the corner of the freezer door.” She points to it.
“Well, I like the look of this fridge, too!”
He decides to upgrade his kitchen with a new fridge, dishwasher, microwave, and oven. He also buys a new TV, air conditioner, and DVD player!
“Well, it seems the meter is slowing down. We did a good job making your place more eco-friendly!”
“We sure did! And with the money I'll save, maybe we could, I don't know, go on vacation. You know, just the two of us, maybe in Florida, or something!”
“I like the sound of that, Spongebob. Just you, and me, spending even more time together. I'd like that a lot.”
Suddenly, Patrick walks up.
“Hey, Spongebob. Do you have any light bulbs? Mine burnt out.”
“Sure thing, buddy!” He hands him one of the fluorescent light bulbs Sandy gave him.
“What's this?” Patrick asks.
“That, my friend, is a fluorescent light bulb. It'll save you money, trust me.”
“Um, ok! Thanks!” He walks back to his house.
“Well, what do you want to do now, Spongebob?”
“Let's go in and watch my new high definition TV!”
“All right! I got an idea!”
“What?”
“You should get satellite TV, you get way more channels, for less money per channel than cable.”
“Sounds good, I'll think about it. In the mean time, let's head in and cool down. It's getting hot out here.”
“I agree, Spongebob. I can't stand this heat much longer!”
They go inside and watch TV.
Meanwhile, at Patrick's place...
“Hmmm....these are supposed to save me money?” he asks himself as he replaces the bulb. “Wait, I don't have money.”
Suddenly the power goes out.
“Darn, maybe I should have replaced these things earlier. I could have been able to pay my electric bill. Oh, well.” He then falls asleep.
