Chapter 1
In the state of West Virginia, in a town cut away from human civilization called Bella wood, a joyous occasion was arriving. In one section of the town, a little hospital was busy preparing for something... a true blessing was about to arrive.
In the waiting room, a male raccoon, tall and average built, was pacing back and forth, a worried expression on his face. John Lane was his name.
His teeth were clenched around a pine branch toothpick. Other soon-to-be-fathers would take the cigar but John Lane chose not to do any damage to his lungs. He just kept pacing, anxious for any news.
"I hope she's alright." He kept saying to himself. His wife Anna, had been in labor for a while. This was their first child, and as expected, he had so many worries going through his head.
Would she be all right? Would the baby be all right?
Some of the other patients looked at him with sympathy. Some other new parents, with their babies already, knew how he felt. “Mr. Lane?” a kindly voice spoke. “Yes?” He shot up.
A kindly looking chipmunk nurse was standing there. She smiled at him.
"Follow me sir." She said. "Your baby is here."
"It is?" He asked. "Is the baby ok? How is my wife?" “Everything is fine.” said the nurse. “Come see for yourself.” He nodded and followed her. The ward smelled strongly of disinfectant and cleaning solution. He could hear the sound of crying babies in the maternity area. “Right in here.” said the nurse as they came to a room. She opened the door. A female raccoon was resting on the bed, looking peaceful. An IV ran into her arm. She was cradling a bundle. John approached her. “Anna…” He said softly. “Hi honey.” She said. She sounded a little weak. “Are you all right?” John asked. She nodded.
"I'm fine." She said. John looked at the bundle in her arms. He could see a tiny muzzle poking out from it. Anna smiled. “Say hi to our new daughter.” She said.
John crept over and bent over to look at his sleeping daughter. The little girl yawned widely and began to open her little eyes. Her father gasped softly. Baby raccoons usually didn’t open their eyes right after being born. The little kit soon saw her mother and father for the first time.
She looked at her father with curiosity. She saw the pewter cross necklace hanging from his neck. She started to reach for it. He smiled at her. “May I?” John asked. Anna smiled at him. "Of course." She said. John carefully picked up the little kit and cradled her. She cooed loudly at him, reaching her little arms up to him. She got a hold of his necklace. She held the cross with her little paws and cooed. “So what’s her name?” the chipmunk nurse asked.
"Hmm." John said. "What do you think honey?” Anna thought for a moment. And then she smiled. “How about…Kelly?” She suggested. "Kelly?" John asked. Anna nodded.
He smiled. "You know what, I like that." John said. “Kelly Marie Lane.” Anna smiled. "It fits her."
The nurse smiled. John look at his little girl. “Hi Kelly.” he said. “I’m your Papa.” Kelly cooed and kept playing with his cross. “And I want you to always remember this.” He said. “Me and your mother will always love you no matter what.” He nuzzled her. Little Kelly held onto his muzzle. She purred in the matter of a raccoon. Something still boggled John’s mind. He placed Kelly back in Anna’s arms. "What is it love?" Anna asked. "She opened her eyes awfully soon." He said. “She might just be an early bloomer.” the nurse said. "That so?" John said. Anna smiled. “Maybe God wanted her to see the world already.” She said. He smiled. "Maybe." He tickled her belly. She fidgeted. He smiled. "Welcome to the world little one." He said. “May God bless you with his undying love as we have for you.” The baby cooed. The parents smiled at the gift they had been given, both of them thanking God for her.
Not really a Spongebob fic but Kelly's an OC. I wanted her to have her own story. hope you like it.
