Guys, drawing is about finding your center. Once you get that in place, you work on something you can really draw. For instance, when I was in sixth grade, I couldn't even draw stick people, and a year and a half later (cuz I'm thirteen, and I'm in 7th grade at the moment because my birthday comes early) I'm doing pictures of Kermit the Frog, Sonic the Hedgehog, Chowder, and SpongeBob SquarePants right off the bat in five minutes. The thing is to keep trying, even if you go through 5000 sheets of paper like I did. You should also keep your will to draw strong, and don't let critics get you down. Oh, and always bring a pencil sharpener.

Ya know, really, all you gotta do is figure out how you wanna draw something and then just do it over and over a bunch of times. Trust me, my first SpongeBob looked like !CRAP! But the more I draw him, the better I seem to get. And it really doesn't matter how other people draw, as long as you have your own unique style. Sure, there's LOTS of people on fansites that draw sooo much better than me, but I don't let that get to me. If everyone drew the same way, it would be just plain boring. One thing I always try to point out is, sure, it's nice to be able to look at something and recreate a perfect image of whatever you see, but that's not what art is all about. It's about drawing something the way YOU see it.

It's OK for you guys, I go to a school where the special subject is art and most of the girls in my form keep getting phrase from our form teacher (who teaches 3D Studies, aka pottery) for having good ability. I can't draw realistic and I can't sew, bu I did get some good comments from my Graphics teacher about my drawings so at least SOMEONE in my school is open to cartoon styles (mine, I'll never be able to draw realistic)!

I've been drawing as far back as I can remember, and I know I've been drawing SpongeBob that long too. I cringe when I find old SpongeBob drawings in the depths of my house, but it also reminds me of how good I've gotten. Some people have only been drawing for about 3 years and they're wonderful, but I've gotten where I am today from drawing ever since I was born. So it took a lot of practice.
The way I draw is usually a mix between cartoon and realistic. (unless it's SpongeBob or some other thing, then I draw it in its original style)
