Yeah, I'm working on a fantasy novel with anthro characters. I'll post the prologue and the first chapter after I finish them. Anywho, I just sorted out the characters.

EDIT: I just changed all of the characters. If you want to know what's going on at the moment, I've already written the prolouge. I've changed the main character's name from 'Yan' to 'Eiji'.
PROLOGUE
The street lamps on the avenue flickered in the night. The rain falling down was cold and spiteful as it hit those passing by. A woman came running down the way with a bundle in her arms, and a hood concealing her face. Her breath came out in sharp, short bursts as she blew through the crowds of people. The bundle was sobbing loudly into the woman’s chest. She clutched it harder as she neared a small building. The small woman stopped here and pulled the bundle away from her chest. She took off her hood to reveal a beautiful, furry face with long black hair and a gray nose like a cat’s. The tip of her yellow tail was drooping on the wet pavement. She smiled at the baby in the bundle and stroked its white hair. She was leaning in to kiss its forehead when hard footfalls came from behind. She stopped abruptly with fear in her brown eyes. ‘’We catch up at last, Mei Li.’’ snickered a cold voice from behind. Mei covered the baby up and turned around. Before she could get a good look at the owner of the voice, she was struck across the face. ‘’You were foolish to run from me, dear…’’it said, with fake benevolence. ‘’Though that you could take the infant and run? Silly girl. I am not an imbecile. I have a way of knowing where you are…. If you so much as take a step out of my perimeter, my senses go off. And we wouldn’t want them to go off, would we, Mei…?’’ Mei attempted to get up from the ground, but the strange man pushed her back down. ‘’You will not be going anywhere tonight, my dear.’’ He hissed. Tears were starting to fill up the mother’s eyes. She hooked herself around his legs and sobbed into them. ‘’P-Please, Master Ryuu … there has to be another way… please… please spare my child…’’ Ryuu shook her off, kicking her on her side. ‘’I am afraid not. Do you not remember the prophecy, wretch?’’ Ryuu smiled coldly, his white hair and black fur were splattered with rain. ‘’Allow me to refresh your memory…. If I am ever to have a son, that means he has inherited my family’s powers, something I too was born with. ‘’This means that the boy could possibly be stronger than I, and we can’t have that, can we? He is the only one who can prevent me from conquering this foul, ugly human world, and our world.’’ Ryuu paused to scowl at a man across the street that was snickering at his tail protruding from his cloak. ‘’His life must be extinguished as a small child, in order to prevent him from meddling with my plans.’’ Mei looked up in horror at her fellow Felinius. ‘’But why… why my child? W-What about Orochi…?’’ Ryuu kicked her once more. ‘’Foolish woman!’’ he shrieked as his face contorted with anger. ‘’This plan will only work if the one who will rebel against me is to die! Orochi has been a forever loyal son, and I shall use him to my advantage! He and his sister both!’’ Mei crawled away with her baby under her cloak now, her face reddening with anger. ‘’You… monster… y-you can’t do this… you can’t!’’ Ryuu picked her up and harshly slammed her against the wall. ‘’It is not your decision, whelp. The child must die.’’ Ryuu raised his hands as flames danced on his palms, bending to his whims. Mei took off and ran, her baby crying quietly. Flames shot past her head as she ran towards the end of the road. People were screaming as the city was quickly going up in flames. Mei ran into an alleyway and hid behind a collection of moldy crates. She panted as the rain kept pouring down on her and the baby. She stroked its head repeatedly. ‘’Shhh, don’t cry, Eiji, don’t cry…’’ The crates instantly caught flame as Ryuu came running into the alley. Mei was in such shock that she accidently flung little Eiji onto the pavement. Ryuu smiled maliciously down at the little Felinius. ‘’Your time ends now, young one…’’ he whispered as the flames in his palms grew larger and larger. Eiji stared at the flames as they danced in Ryuu’s hands, mesmerized by the color and motion. Mei peered out from behind the crates in shock. ‘’NOOOOO!” Mei came running out from behind the crates. She flung herself in front of little Eiji as the flames came down. She screamed in agony as the flames hit her directly in the chest. ‘’YOU FOOLISH WOMAN!’’ Ryuu cried over the rush of the flames. He retracted his power, and the mother fell limply to the ground. Her eyes were blank and her mouth was lolling open. Could she have died, protecting little Eiji from Ryuu? He kicked her to the side and began advancing on the child. Eiji stared at him with a laughing expression. He expected that any second now, the man with the glowing hands would make more pretty colors. But as he saw the livid expression on Ryuu’s face, Eiji’s lip quivered. ‘’Say goodnight, little Eiji.’’ Ryuu snarled as the flames grew higher in his hands. But as he had shot the flames at the infant, something extraordinary began to happen. An icy blue shield formed around the child, protecting him from the angry fire. It pushed back the fire on Ryuu, making his livid face grow pale with fear. The flames had turned into ice, jutting out so far, that they jabbed right through his chest, hanging him in the air. He coughed and sputtered as blood leaked out from his chest. Ryuu gave one last struggle to remove the ice until a loud ‘bang’ was heard. The evil Felinius had been turned to dust. Ryuu was no more. Little Eiji giggled and clapped his hands as the dark red dust fell upon him. He glanced over at his mother, who still hadn’t stirred. Eiji crawled over to her. He ran his little paws over her face, feeling the cold chill of death on it. Eiji’s eyes brimmed with tears. He didn’t like how cold his mother’s face was. He curled up underneath her cloak and sobbed quietly, waiting for her to wake back up. A small white cat was making her way towards the baby. She sniffed him once and purred softly, knowing immediately that he was some form of feline. She rubbed her head against Eiji and curled up beside him, wrapping her soft, warm body around him. Eiji leaned his tiny head onto the cat’s body, tears still leaking down his face.
Matron Rayne sat upright in bed. ‘’What IS that noise?’’ she muttered. A look of worry contorted her round face. She swept her long hair underneath a bonnet and pulled her raincoat on around her tiny waist. Rayne opened the bedroom door and shut it quietly, as not to wake the children in their beds. She fumbled with the keys in her pocket and unlocked the door, stepping out into the rain. She hobbled across the street and into the alley, where she had heard the noise come from. Rayne couldn’t believe her eyes. In the corner of the alley, a little furry child with white hair sleeping next to a white cat. Not to mention, the furry woman with a horrible burn across her chest. Rayne, wide-eyed, walked cautiously over to the three. She leaned down and nudged the woman. ‘’Miss? Excuse me…’’ The woman stirred, her eyes narrowed with pain. Her expression changed as she got a good luck at the human in front of her. She beckoned for her to lean in closer. Rayne hesitantly leaned in. ‘’P-Please…’’ Mei gasped her shaking hand on Rayne’s shoulder. ‘’P-Please look after… my Eiji…’’ ‘’Eiji…?’’ Rayne mumbled. Mei looked over to the baby, then back to her. ‘’He is… too young. T-Too young to be a-alone…’’ heavy tears fell from her eyes as her hand fell from Rayne’s shoulder. ‘’Please…’’ She gave her one last pleading look, and closed her eyes, moving no more. Matron Rayne had to stifle tears from falling from her eyes. She felt deep pity for the mother and child. Rayne leaned over and gently picked up the child, patting his white hair. The white cat stared up at her with annoyed yellow eyes. ‘’Alright, you can stay with him.’’ She sighed. The cat stood up and followed Matron Rayne across the street. Matron stared down at Eiji’s beautiful yellow fur. She smiled as his tiny tail twitched. She opened the door to the orphanage building and laid the child down in one of the empty cribs. As she laid him down, Rayne noticed something. There was a locket around Eiji’s neck. The symbol on it looked like a series of waves. She examined it closely, straightening her spectacles to see it clearly. Rayne dug the nail of her index finger underneath the side and opened the locket. There was an inscription inside:
Eiji Li: Child of the Water
‘’ ‘Child of the Water’…’’ she read aloud. A little British boy with mousy brown hair awoke from his bed. ‘’Matron, what are you doing?’’ Rayne smiled at him. ‘’Nothing James, dear. Go back to sleep. James blinked twice and got out of bed. He looked as if he were only four years old. ‘’Matron, who is that?’’ he asked, peering into the crib. His eyes filled with excitement. ‘’Matron, he’s furry! And he’s got a tail, Matron! He’s half kitty-cat, or something!’’ Matron put a finger to her lips and shushed him. ‘’Hush, James. You’ll wake the other boys.’’ ‘’But Matron, he’s part kitty-cat! What’s his name, Matron? What’s his name?’’ Rayne sighed. ‘’His name is Eiji Li.’’ James put his hand into the crib and waved at the sleeping baby. ‘’Hi, Eiji.’’ He whispered. ‘’I’m James. I’m human, see?’’ Eiji, obviously awoken by the whispering, opened his eyes and looked up at James. He smiled and reached for James’s finger. James giggled as Eiji pulled it into his mouth. ‘’Look, Matron! He likes me! Eiji likes me!’’ Matron chuckled as James began talking quietly to Eiji. ‘’Okay, James. Back to bed.’’ The white cat that was with Eiji scuttled into the room. James frowned. ‘’Aw, I wanted to play with Eiji some more.’’ James muttered sadly. The white cat rubbed herself all around James’s legs. James leaned down to pet her. ‘’Melody! I wondered where you’d gotten of to, you silly little git.’’ He laughed. Melody purred loudly and followed James to bed, taking one last look at Eiji. Rayne looked down at the now sleeping child. ‘’Eiji Li… Child of the Water…’’
