Both Spongebob and Sandy have been very busy with work lately. Every time they wanted to hang out one of them or sometimes both of them had to work. Sandy would sometimes come to see Spongebob at the Krusty Krab, but she doesn't really get to talk to him because he only gets ten minute lunch breaks. They occasionally have lunch together, but sometimes Patrick would come in and interrupt them.
Other times When Sandy is busy with her work Spongebob is really tired from working all day at the Krusty Krab. As much as he would love to come in and see her he knew she didn't like being interrupted and he would just distract her. He had tried a few times to help her with her work, but he would just get in the way and she would yell at him.
He walks home, but he is not in his usual cheerful mood. He had a good day at work, but it felt like something was missing. Of course to him it was more like a someone. He sat down in his chair and looked at his photo album. He has pictures of all if his friends, but he focused on the ones with him and Sandy. In one picture it showed Spongebob and Patrick throwing Sandy a Welcome Home party. Sandy had just got back from Texas and the picture showed Spongebob and Sandy hugging.
Spongebob thought about the last time that he had been over to see Sandy.
(Flashback)
He had always thought of Sandy as beautiful. One thing that he has always wanted to do was hold her hand. She seemed a little busy but Spongebob went over to her anyway. He was standing right beside her at her table. He noticed that her left hand was sitting on the table. At the moment Sandy was reading something in her science book so she could figure out what to do next. He blushed but was a little nervous because he didn't know what was going to happen. As she was reading and as her hand was sitting on the table she suddenly felt his hand in hers.
She blushed at first and then turned to look at him. He was holding her hand.
"Um... Spongebob. What are you doing?"
Spongebob then let go of her hand assuming that she didn't like it and backed away.
"Nothing... Sorry keep working. I need to go feed Gary anyway."
He was walking backwards towards the exit, but what he didn't notice was that Sandy had been building something important and he bumped into it and it fell and broke into pieces. Sandy heard the noise and went over to it. She had been working on it for two weeks and she was almost finished with it and Spongebob just ruined two weeks worth of work.
"Spongebob! I've been working two weeks on that. It was very important and you ruined it."
I'm really sorry Sandy. I didn't see it, I didn't mean for it to happen. It was an accident."
"Everything is an accident with you. Get out of here... I can't get anything done with you around."
Spongebob was almost in tears. He had never remembered seeing Sandy so mad at him, but he replaced his sadness with anger.
"Fine... If that's the way you want it. I won't bother you anymore."
He walks out of the treedome and slams the door. He stands there for a minute on the other side of the door. He took a moment to hold back the tears but it was no use. As he started crying he ran home. Sandy was busy cleaning up the mess, but later felt guilty for the way that she yelled at him, but thought he would get over it and be back the next day. She was wrong because it turned out to be a whole month before they saw each other again.
(End Flashback)
Spongebob sat in his chair still thinking about that day a month ago and he started crying as he closed the photo album. He saw Sandy earlier that day at the Krusty Krab. Seeing her didn't really help him either. He saw her look directly at him through the window, but he ducked down and continued to work. He started crying and thought about all of the times they've had together. He didn't want this to be the end of their friendship.
"What happened to us? We used to be great friends, but now... She won't even talk to me. Have I ruined her life that much?"
Just as he said this his phone rang. He looked at the caller ID and sure enough it was Sandy. She was calling him, he couldn't believe it. His sadness went away, but he didn't get too excited. He was curious as to what she had to say so he picked up the phone.
"Hello?"
"Hi Spongebob it's Sandy.... We need to talk."
