Spongebob was excited, he had been waiting for this day for a long time. Today was the day that he would finally tell Sandy how he really felt about her. He was so nervous, but he was more excited than he was nervous. He believed that there was a chance that she could love him back. She invited him over to visit, he went to the flower store and bought her some flowers. Then he made his way over to her treedome, he was starting to have second thoughts. He was starting to worry about what she would say it do once he told her. He shook the thought from his head and knocked on the door. He made sure to put on his water helmet. Sandy let him in and they both greeted each other with a smile. Spongebob was at a loss for words when he saw her. She got even more beautiful every time he saw her.
"Are you coming in Spongebob?"
"Oh... Yeah of course."
He walks in and they both sit down at her table. She was working on an experiment, Spongebob just sat there while many thoughts went through his head.
"So is there any reason why you wanted to come over Spongebob?"
"Oh... Yes Sandy. I wanted to come over to talk to you about something."
Sandy stopped what she was doing and started listening and watching Spongebob's every move. She thought it was kind of rude to not pay attention to what he had to say so she stopped working and listened to him.
"Are you ok Spongebob? Is there something bothering you?"
"Well, I don't know yet Sandy. I wanted to come over because I wanted to have a... Very serious conversation with you."
Sandy was a little concerned. This Spongebob in front of her wasn't the happy Spongebob she was used to. She was a little worried about what he meant when he said serious conversation.
"Ok Spongebob. Say what you need to say."
Spongebob took a deep breath, there was no turning back now.
"Where do I really begin?... We've known each other for quite a while now haven't we Sandy?"
"Yeah... At least ten years right?"
"Actually it's been fifteen years."
Sandy was amazed at how long it's been.
"Wow... Fifteen years."
Spongebob then figures out what he wanted to say, he stopped thinking about what he would say and started speaking from the heart.
"Fifteen years we've known each other Sandy. We've been great friends for fifteen years. We've had our good times and we've had our bad times."
"Yeah... Where exactly are you going with this Spongebob?"
"Well throughout all of the times we've had... We've gotten through them together. Our friendship means the world to me Sandy."
"I think I know what you mean Spongebob."
Spongebob stops what he was going to say for a moment.
"You do?"
"Yeah. You said our friendship means the world to you. Friendships like ours are ones that last forever Spongebob."
"Yeah I guess you're right Sandy, but that's not quite all that I wanted to say."
Sandy realized that she must have interrupted him.
"Oh sorry Spongebob, I interrupted you. Go ahead."
"Well, not only does our friendship mean the world to me, but you do too Sandy. I've been wanting to tell you this for a long time."
Sandy was quiet. She was listening to everything that Spongebob had to say.
"I love you Sandy."
She couldn't believe it. She didn't believe it. There was no way that Spongebob really loved her. She knew Spongebob was the kind of guy that liked to pull jokes. She thought he was just trying to trick her. This wasn't the kind of think to joke around about. she started getting angry at him and she didn't think he really knew what love was.
"Oh sure you do Spongebob. What do you think I was born yesterday? What kind of joke are you trying to pull?"
Spongebob was hurt. She thought he was just joking around.
"What? You don't believe me? You think this is a joke? Why would I joke about something like this?
"That's exactly what I want to know? I'm supposed to believe that you're in love with me? I don't even think you know what love is."
Spongebob is almost ready to give up and leave, but something wouldn't him.
"Sandy I know you think that this is something I would do as a joke, but I would never joke around about something like this. Do you want to know what love is?"
"I think I'd like to know."
Spongebob is then ready to tell her everything about her that he loved about her.
"For me... Love is waking up everyday thinking that I'll never be good enough for you to ever love me back. Love is constantly thinking or dreaming about you. Love is always hoping that one day you would love me back. Love is hoping that one day we'll figure out the air and water situation and finally be together. For me love is... just wanting that one special kiss to happen. Love is me trying to do everything I can to protect you even if you don't want me to. Love is... If I had to... Give up my own life just so you can live. Finally... Even if you don't believe me or feel the same way... Love is loving you no matter what."
Sandy then immediately felt bad for not believing him and for being angry with him, but since she was still silent Spongebob thought she didn't care he started making his way to her door.
"I guess this is the hardest thing I'll ever have to do... Walk away forever because you don't believe I know what love is, or that you don't love me. Don't worry... I won't bother you again, but I'll always love you."
Sandy ran up to him.
"Wait! I'm sorry I didn't believe you. I believe you now... You would seriously give up your life for me?"
"If I had to."
Sandy gets tears in her eyes and pulls him close into a hug.
"That is the most sweetest and most thoughtful thing I've ever heard. I love you too Spongebob."
Now it was Spongebob's turn not to believe her. He gets out of the hug and turns his back to her. He gets tears in his eyes because he thinks she is just saying this because of all of the things he said.
"You don't have to lie to me Sandy. I'm not going to make you feel the same way for me just to make me feel better."
"But I do love you Spongebob."
"I'm sorry Sandy, but I just find that hard to believe."
He was about to walk out the door again when Sandy stops him again.
"Wait Spongebob! You're just feeling sorry for yourself again. You said before that you thought you'd never be good enough for me."
"Well that's because you're so beautiful Sandy. You're smart, athletic, anyone would be better for you than me. I'm not that smart, strong,or handsome. You're a brilliant scientist. I'm just a fry cook."
"The best fry cook I've ever known. Listen Spongebob... You don't have to be smart or strong for me to like you. I think you're really cute. You need to stop putting yourself down like that, you never had to prove anything to me. You said you'd give up your life for me, I would probably give up my life for you too Spongebob. You think you're not good enough for me, I'm not good enough for you Spongebob... Because I was too blind to know someone that cared that much about me. I do love you Spongebob. I'm the one that doesn't deserve you. You're too good to me."
Now Sandy's back was turned to him. She told him that she loved him and now he believed her. He wasn't exactly thinking things through but he took off his helmet, went up to her from behind and put his hand on her shoulder. He slowly turned her around. They looked at each other for a moment. He could tell that she had been crying. Sandy was about to ask him why he took off his helmet, but she froze where she was and didn't say a word as he gently wiped the tears from her face with his hand. They both thought the same thing and wrapped their arms around each other in a hug. They never felt so close before, they held each other close for what seemed like a minute. Then as they hold onto each other they looked into each other's eyes and came closer as they shared their first kiss. It was a moment both of them had been waiting for for fifteen years. They didn't have to worry about anything as long as they were together. Neither of them wanted the moment to end but Spongebob needed his water helmet back on so he had to end the kiss.
"So... That's what a kiss is like."
"That was your first kiss too Spongebob?"
"My first real kiss anyway. I dreamed that this would happen and always hoped it would happen for real."
"You had that dream too."
They were both blushing now because they both had the same dream and wanted this to happen.
"Yeah. But do you know what I wish Sandy?"
"What?"
"I wish we didn't have an water or air problem."
"I'll work on that Spongebob, but in the mean time I've got an idea."
She goes over to her garden and turned on her sprinklers.
Spongebob got the idea and took off his helmet.
"So how long have you had that sprinkler system?"
"About two years. I don't know why I didn't think of this sooner."
Spongebob was happy because he realized that the helmet problem was half solved. Now all that Sandy had to do was figure out her helmet issue.
"So Sandy... Where exactly do we stand now?"
"What do you mean Spongebob?"
"I mean... We both said I love you and kissed so that got me thinking... Friends don't exactly kiss do they?"
They both blush but Sandy agrees.
"No I guess they don't."
"So what now Sandy? Are we boyfriend and girlfriend? Are we going out?"
Sandy smiles at him.
"If you want to. I'd like that."
Spongebob gets excited and kissed her again. This time the kiss was quick. Then Spongebob stops and laughs a little.
"Sorry I got a little excited. Was it too soon?"
"Don't worry Spongebob, now that we're boyfriend and girlfriend I'm sure we'll be kissing all time. We kind of already did."
"Oh right."
A few minutes go by and they decide to sit and enjoy each other's company. They were both happy because now they knew what real love was and that they really love each other. They both knew they would love each other forever.
The End. (The show has been around since 1999 and now it's 2014 so it really has been 15 years that they've known each other. Surely at some point they must have talked about the future of their friendship and if it could ever be something more. Comments?)
