Please forgive me for the terrible title... as you can see I have a huge imagination... Just kidding, it practically gives the whole story away... romance in Bikini Bottom! Okay... so here it goes:
Chapter 1
He had always had the same crazy feelings when he went to her house. He would get nervous, his knees would get weak and he felt like he had jellyfish swimming in his stomach whenever he saw her. His helmet would occasionally fog up and he would stutter. But nothing ever really changed... until lately. It seemed like the few jellyfish in his stomach had become a swarm. The weakness in his knees, it made his legs literally melt one time. Everything about her triggered these feelings. Her smile with those buckteeth that he thought no one could ever forget, her warm brown eyes, her sweet southern drawl, her light pink nose, her velvety soft fur, her wonderful personality, her- "SpongeBob! You're supposed to be makin' me money! I ain't paying you to stand around, lad!" SpongeBob jumped at his boss's orders- he really needed to stop daydreaming about Sandy at work. "Aye-Aye! Mr. Krabs! I'll get back to work right now!" The sponge said as he ran over to the counter and started chopping various vegetables. "One Krabby Patty and a dr. Kelp." An unenthusiastic nasal voice came from the other side of the kitchen window. "Right on it, Squidward!" SpongeBob tossed multiple patties on the grill. He waited for the first side to be cooked and then he flipped them, the smell of fresh grilled meat and grease filled the room. The fry cook went around the kitchen gathering the sliced ingredients for the sandwich and staked them all on top of the bottom half of the bun. He took the sauces and drew a few hearts on the burger. He smiled at the thought of Sandy, carefully put the top bun on top of the patty and handed it, and the drink, to Squidward through the kitchen window. The day went by fast for SpongeBob as he continued to write secret messages or draw hearts on the patties. He giggled and laughed the whole time to Squidward's annoyance and eventually, near closing time, the octopus turned around to see what his coworker thought was so funny. He was drawing on the patties with ketchup! 'What's it with kids always playing with food?' Squidward asked himself and gave a patty to the last customer. The customer had ordered a to-go meal and left, leaving only Squidward, SpongeBob and Mr. Krabs, who was in his office counting profits, alone at the Krusty Krab. Squidward duly looked at the clock, took off his hat and walked out of the front doors, hoping that the sponge wouldn’t see him go. But he did and quickly caught up with him. "Squidward? Would you mind if I walked home with you?" SpongeBob wanted to ask Squidward what the difference between a crush and love is. The question had been bugging him for a while and he wanted to know if he was really falling in love with one of his best friends, or if he just thought she was pretty and had some strange allergic reaction to squirrels. "Yes. I actually would mind." "Well, anyway, Squidward. I have a question." "That's nice." "Yeah, well you know Sa-" "I told you I do mind if you walk home with me!" "Is that in a positive way or-" "Negative." "So you don't want me to walk with you?" "Exactly." "But I need your advice!" "No." "Please!" "No." "But-" "No!" "I need it!" "No!" "Oh well, maybe we can walk to work together tomorrow, eh Squiddy?" They had reached Squidward's Easter Island Home and SpongeBob walked up to the door, closely behind the octopus, but only to get the wooden door slammed in his face. 'Ow!' SpongeBob turned around to see if anyone was watching him. 'Maybe I ask Patrick for advice...' He looked over to his best friend's rock, but then he realized how late... and dark... it was getting and decided to go home. SpongeBob walked into the living room and saw his pet snail watching TV. "Gary?" The snail looked up from the couch. "What are you watching?" SpongeBob walked over and looked at the screen. He had seen the same movie recently with Sandy in the movie theater... 'Sandy…' SpongeBob's mind drifted off again. Gary noticed this and switched the channels. A loud shooting noise came from the television and SpongeBob got out of his trance again. "Sorry Gare-Bear. I'm getting kind of tired, I guess. Good night." He said, gently patting his snail's shell and then went upstairs into his bedroom. The sponge stripped off his pants and crawled into bed. He looked up at the ceiling, listening to the calm ocean current outside. He really wanted to tell Sandy how he felt. He wanted to be able to talk to her without fearing rejection or hold her hand while taking a walk through the park or jellyfish fields. He wanted to have assurance that she liked him back. He wanted to tell her all about his dreams and wishes and know all about hers too. He wanted to be the reason she would stay underwater forever. He wanted to sit on a hill and just gaze at the clouds with her. Sure, they'd done it before, but he wished they'd do it more often. Not only would he like to do that, He'd like to watch the sunset with her or look at the starry night sea, pointing out various constellations or maybe even making up their own pictures in the stars… And with that thought the sea sponge drifted off to sleep, hoping that Sandy liked him back, and that he could finally get the courage to tell her his feelings. Alright, there's the first chapter. Please tell me what you think of it! I know nothing really exciting happened sofar but it'll get better!

Your story is great so far. I like how descriptive your stories are. That's something I need to work on. When I have an idea for a story I also have a hard time coming up with a title. Anyway I look forward to reading the next chapter

Thank you! I'm glad I'm not the only one with the title problem... I had no idea what to call it because I haven't quite finished writing the story yet and I guess when the story isn't completly finished it's hard to think of titles... Okay, so here's the next chapter:
SpongeBob jumped out of bed, at first, oblivious to the things he had thought of last night. 'Time for work!' He went into the bathroom to get ready. After his shower, he got dressed in his normal attire and fed his pet snail. "I'm ready!" SpongeBob chanted and walked out of his bright pineapple home. 'I wonder where Squidward is...' SpongeBob thought about looking around for the octopus, as he was usually walking to work at this time. 'Maybe he left for work early!' He smiled at the thought and started going towards the Krusty Krab. As soon as he got there, though, his smile disappeared. It was Sunday. The Krusty Krab was closed on Sundays. No wonder Squidward wasn't up yet. They didn't have work today. Suddenly all the events from yesterday flowed back into SpongeBob's memory. He remembered the constant thinking of Sandy, the hearts on the Krabby Patties, the question he wanted to ask Squidward.... 'I can't possibly be in love with Sandy! I always may have had a tiny crush on her, but she couldn't ever return that! And is 15 years a normal length for a crush?! -I'm sure It'll go away soon!' As he went back home, he kept assuring himself that he didn't like the squirrel in any romantic way, and that they were just friends and always would be. But something deep inside of him did want them to be more... Just as he entered his pineapple, the phone began to ring. "Hello?" "Howdy, SpongeBob." It was Sandy. His heartbeat started racing. "Hi..." He glanced nervously at his calendar. 'I have nothing to do today maybe she'll invite me over and confess her lo- Woah! SquarePants! Stop thinking like that!' SpongeBob blushed and was quite flustered that his mind had even thought of such a thing. Sandy and him? Oh, but he did like her. Definitely more than he wished he did. Sandy spoke up again. "I was wonderin' if y'all'd like to come over today... we haven't seen each other in a while and I was thinking-" "I'd love to Sandy!" The sponge interrupted a bit more excited than he intended too. "Okay, I've got to work a bit on an invention first... would you mind coming over at two?" "No, not at all!" "Alright then, see ya later!" "Okay! Bye Sandy!" "Bye." "Gary! Guess who just invited me over?" SpongeBob enthusiastically asked his pet snail. "SpongeBob, I'm still on the other end..." A southern voice reminded him. "Shrimp!" He cursed and then nervously started laughing. "Bahahaha... Well then, see you later Sandy!" "Yeah... see you later..." SpongeBob made sure he hung up the phone and then hit his head on the side stable. 'How stupid can I be?! I interrupted her question! I sounded way too eager to see her and then there was that thing with Gary...' SpongeBob glanced over to his pet snail, who was eyeing him suspiciously. "It was Sandy... I sounded like a complete idiot..." He explained. "Meow." "You heard me Gary. I got caught up in my thoughts and I-" SpongeBob suddenly heard a loud banging on the door and opened it up to see his very best friend, Patrick Star, wearing a strange pair of glasses. "Hi SpongeBob! How do you like my new look?" The sponge laughed. "Patrick! Since when do you need glasses?" "Since I have become a doctor and a professor… of course." Patrick said in a matter-of-fact tone. "Aha." SpongeBob thought about it for a few seconds and then gasped. "How'd you do that?!" "Oh... I just was watching TV and there was this guy who was a 'doctor professor' and he was wearing glasses so I thought I needed some too, you know, so I can show off my ...'smartly talents'." SpongeBob nodded cautiously. "So you think glasses make you smart?" "They don't make you smart. The 'smartliness' comes from..." Patrick stopped for a second. "I think up here." He said pointing to his head. "Or was it my tummy? I don't remember..." "So if I wore glasses, I'd look smart?" SpongeBob asked, grabbing into his pocket and taking out his own glasses. Before he could put them on Patrick hit SpongeBob's hands, letting the glasses fall down and the two watched one of the lenses break. "Glasses are only for sophisticated people. Unlike you, square one." "But I actually need mine!" Patrick rolled his eyes. "That doesn't mean you can wear them." "Well okay Patrick-" "Mr. Dr. Prof. Therapist Star." Patrick corrected him. "Therapist?" "Yes SpongeBob... Do you need any help with anything?" The starfish eyed him suspiciously. "Actually..." SpongeBob started thinking of his crush on Sandy. Did he really like her that much? "Yes, I do have a few questions I'd like to have answered..." "Well, come over to my 'office' and we can talk about your problem." SpongeBob knew Patrick watched a lot of TV, but he never knew that he could actually remember what was said. "Okay Patrick. Is now a good time?" The starfish looked at a poorly drawn wristhingych and sighed. "I have a client at one, but I guess you can come and talk to me till then." He said, walking to his home. 'Patrick has clients?!' SpongeBob stared at his best friend in awe and then quickly followed Patrick to his rock.
This chapter was kind of short I guess. I'm a little afraid Patrick's OOC... that's why I tried to make him pertend to be smart, because I can't get him to talk to SpongeBob about Sandy being completly "Patrick" and I'm not good at keeping Patrick in character anyway XD

Patrick was fine. I liked the Mr. Dr. Professor Patrick thing. It reminded me of the episode Chimps Ahoy when Patrick was acting all smart.

I have no idea how that "wristingych" typo got in there... I meant to write wristhingych! Anyway, hope you enjoy the next chapter! And @wwespongefan I love the thought of Patrick knowing about Sandy's crush on SpongeBob, you did that in one of your stories and I hope it's okay if I put that in mine too! I think I made Pat a bit too OOC though :/
Chapter 3: A Conversation with Patrick
"Sit down Mr. SquarePants." Patrick instructed his 'client' to sit down on a small chair made out of sand, while he was sitting on a larger, more comfortable one. "Patrick- I mean, Mr. Professor therapist Star... doctor?..." "Patient SquarePants? Tell me your problem." "What's the difference between love and infatuation?" "Inflation?" "No! Infatuation! That's another word for huge crush." "Ohh... like the one you got on Sandy?" Patrick started laughing. "What? I do not have a crush on Sandy!" "Well okay SpongeBob, I mean, patient SquarePants, What's the problem?" "There's this girl. I really like her and-" "It's Sandy isn't it?" Patrick smiled knowingly and SpongeBob looked away and didn't answer. "Come on..." "Okay! Yes! It's Sandy!" Patrick sat up straight again and adjusted his glasses. "Alright SpongeBob. What exactly do you want to know?" "I don't know what to do Patrick! All I really want to know if I really love her and if she likes me back!" "Well, I'm not sure you love her, but it's pretty obvious she has some strong feelings for you..." "Her?! For me?! No, I don't really think so..." "Of course she does SpongeBob! Everyone had been talking about it for years!" The two had fallen out of their game of playing Therapist and the glasses fell off of 'mr. dr. prof. therapist Star'. "What are you talking about?!" "That Sandy likes you of course!" "Sandy...likes...me?" "Haven't you heard? That girl is crazy about you!" SpongeBob shook his head. "Patrick... we must be talking about a different person." "Maybe so. Are you talking about the baldheaded one?" "No. I'm talking about the squirrel." SpongeBob said kind of disappointed. Patrick laughed. "Oh, her. Yeah, that was who I was talking about too ...I think. Everyone thought you guys were gonna become a couple a couple of years ago." "Patrick do you know who you're talking to?" "Are you not my best friend SpongeBob SquarePants?!" Patrick gasped and jumped up in horror. "Of course I am!" SpongeBob quickly brought the sea star back to his seat and lowered his voice to a whisper. "Seriously, Patrick. I don't remember any rumors about me and Sandy-" "That's because they do it behind your back." "People talk about me behind my back?!" "Sure. They also said the only problem about the whole thing with you and Sandy getting together was that you are too childish." "I am most certainly not too childish for a relationship! I'll have you know that I almost-" "Why do you want to tell Sandy you like her anyway?" Patrick interrupted the sponge. His mind went blank. 'Why do I want to tell Sandy my secret?' "I want her to ...uh... smile at me?" "They were right SpongeBob. You are too childish for a relationship." "What?! What do you mean? I wasn't even finished!" "What else do you want to do?" "I want to go on long walks with her, hold her hand, hug her, I don't know, put my arm around her shoulders while watching a movie..." "That's all?" "Huh?" "Let's be honest. You can do all that now." SpongeBob shuffled nervously in his chair. "But it'd be awkward." Patrick shrugged. "It's always awkward at first." The poriferan frowned, 'Where did Patrick get all this information about dating?!' SpongeBob looked over to the wall and thought about Patrick's statement. True. It always is awkward at first. Patrick was the first to end the silence. "So you don't want to kiss her?" A crimson blush covered SpongeBob's freckled cheeks "Kiss?" He hadn't even thought of that. He always liked the thought of holding Sandy's hand and giving her flowers, watching romantic movies or gazing at the clouds... but kissing? The only time they even tried that out was on the wedding play... and it didn't work out! SpongeBob started to become more nervous. "I actually never thought about that- I mean I did but I don't really think it would work with the-" "Ice Cream!" Patrick squealed as a he heard music that every fish knows belongs to a light blue boat with colorful dots and pictures of ice cream on it. SpongeBob couldn't even say the word "helmet" before the starfish had sprung out of his chair and raced out of the house. He sighed. If only he knew if what Patrick had said about Sandy was true. 'If I knew Sandy liked me for sure, I wouldn't be half as nervous as I am now about telling her that I like her!' SpongeBob continue to ponder the thought as he waited for the starfish to come back. If he did tell her he liked her and she liked him back- wouldn't it be appropriate for them to kiss? And he knew he wanted to be with her forever. Would they get married? SpongeBob started to get excited and worried at the same time. He had never really thought about getting in to a serious relationship with Sandy. He just supposed some pretty sponge girl would come along and he'd fall in love with her, but if he was thinking like this about Sandy... did that mean he falling in love with her? SpongeBob nervously looked around Patrick's living room and then noticed that Patrick had been gone for over fifteen minutes. The sponge got out of his chair and walked outside to find his best friend standing right in front of his house licking one of those disgusting pickle flavored ice creams. "Oh hi SpongeBob! You missed the ice cream truck!" "Yeah... Patrick. I wasn't really finished with talking to you." "You're weren't?" Patrick's breath stank terrible and SpongeBob would have held his nose closed, if it weren't impolite. "No, actually you still didn't answer my question." "What were you talking about again?" "Well... we were kind of talking about Sandy." "Oh..." Patrick laughed "the one you have a crush on..." Patrick pulled a bacon strip out of his ice cream and ate it. "Pat! Be quiet!" "Why?" "You just said my secret in front of all these..." SpongeBob looked around and noticed the ocean was completely empty around them. "...sand grains!" he said and angrily looked at his best friend, who seemed not to care. "What secret?" "The one with Sandy!" "Who's Sandy?" 'That's enough! I can ask other people for advice on my crush on Sandy. Patrick won't be a very good help if he keeps forgetting everything!' SpongeBob left his friend and walked over to his own house. He had to be at Sandy's in an hour anyway, he might as well look nice.
Okay I hope this chapter was ok. I didn't want to make Patrick wierd or anything I just still think SpongeBob thinks somewhat like a kid and wouldn't think about kissing Sandy... I don't know why! I absoutly love the couple I just can't image SpongeBob thinking like that unless someone would talk to him about it. Sometimes I think he only thinks about giving her flowers and stuff like that and Sandy's just waiting for him to tell her he actually likes her and wants to be her boyfriend.

So Spongebob is looking for advice for Sandy. Sometimes Spongebob goes to Mr. Krabs for advice. Sometimes it seems like Mr. Krabs is like a second father to him. Maybe Mr. Krabs could give him some helpful advice.

Thanks for the idea!! I was going to skip right to the part where he goes to Sandy's, but I guess I could put a conversaiton with Mr. Krabs in there too!
Chapter 4: Mr. Krabs and Sandy's "problem"
SpongeBob had gotten ready, and was now frantically looking around for any money to buy flowers with. 'Sandy likes flowers. I can't go to her house without flowers! I can't just-' The sponge stopped when he saw the freshly planted pink daisies in his next door neighbor's yard. 'Perfect.' SpongeBob quickly ran over to Squidward's yard and pulled up each and every one of the flowers. Then he looked up to see that Squidward hadn't noticed his "borrowing" as Mr. Krabs would call it. He'd repay Squidward later, he didn't have much time to do that now. 'What about talking to someone about Sandy before leaving?' SpongeBob asked himself. Patrick hadn't been much help, but he could always stop by one of his other friends and ask for help. The sponge looked up to Squidward's Easter Island Head home, but he knew Squidward wouldn't be too happy about the flowers he picked, so he decided to go to Mr. Krabs for advice. SpongeBob knocked on his bosses door. He always found it facinating that Mr. Krabs lived in an ancor. It always reminded him of his Krusty Krab uniform. "Oh hello SpongeBob... those flowers aren't for me are they?" Mr. Krabs' teenage daughter Pearl embarassingly asked as she opened the door. One of her friends was over and giggled. "No! -I mean if you want them but they where actually for Sa-" "Whatever! You're here for my dad, aren't you?" "Actually-" "DAAAAADDY! YOUR EMPLOYEE IS AT THE DOOR!" Pearl screamed, and her father came downstairs and went over to the door. He saw the flowers in SpongeBob's hands and looked at Pearl for a second, but Pearl and her friend went back upstairs. "Ya weren't tryin' to give those to me Pearl were you...?" "NO!" SpongeBob yelled. "They are for... uhhh... a friend and I need to talk you about that..." "Okay, can we talk right here?" SpongeBob nodded and then gulped. 'How should I start this...?' "Lad, can I ask who those flowers are for?" Mr. Krabs asked, still wondering about his daughter. The sponge looked towards the ground and spoke very quietly "Sandy..." "Who?" "Sandy." SpongeBob said a bit more confident. Mr. Krabs eyes went wide. "The mammal?" "Yes..." "I knew the day would come... but not so soon..." Mr. Krabs said and squinted his eyes. "What day? What are you talking about Mr. Krabs?" SpongeBob panicked. 'What did I do wrong?!' "Do ya always give her flowers?" "Well... I do it a lot ...Is there something wrong with that?" SpongeBob asked nervously. "No, lad... do you have any special feelings for this ...squirrel?" "That's the problem. I do like her. She's my best uhh... girl uhh... friend, but I don't know if I love her and I don't know if she-" "Lad. Let me tell you something before we get in to this whole conversaiton. What do ya mean by 'best girlfriend'?" "I mean she's my best friend that's a girl and I really like her and I-" "Do you like her more than money?" "Of course Mr. Krabs! I really really like Sandy!" "Hmmm. I guess you do love her then... what if ya had all the money in the world?" "I came here to talk about Sandy not money!" "All right lad. But I'm not going to give her the manager treatment either -even if she is a real person ...unlike yer last date-" "Mr. Krabs! All I want is advice on what I should do with Sandy!" "Okay okay lad. It's obvious you like her. She may like ya to, the lass searched everywhere in town when she couldn't find you one time..." "Yeah, but Sandy was trying to kill me-" "She wouldn't do that. She's been worried about you a lot. I don't think she'd try to hurt ya." "She's been worried about me?" "Yes... and as long as it won't keep you from making me money, I say you should tell her how ya feel." Mr. Krabs said, suddenly convinced that Sandy did like SpongeBob -even though the crab was clueless why a girl would like the fry cook. "Really?" Mr. Krabs nodded and SpongeBob quickly hugged his boss and then ran off. "Good bye Mr. K! I'm going to tell her right now!" "Wow. I didn't think it be that easy..." Mr. Krabs thought as he closed the door. SpongeBob ran over to Sandy's treedome and was happy with himself that he still made it on time even though he had stopped at Mr. Krabs' house. SpongeBob happily knocked on the door, and then looked at his flowers. 'Maybe I should just act natural around her at first! I can always tell her that later.' The squirrel opened the door and SpongeBob shoved Squidward's flowers in her hands and smiled at her. Sandy acted somewhat nervous, but accepted the flowers, "Thanks... SpongeBob." "Hey Sandy! You ready for some... KA-RA-TAY?!" "Well actually I was wanting-" "You can't fool me squirrel!" He didn't listen and hit her, already wearing his karate gloves. Sandy smiled and got her karate gear on to. They sparred for a while and were having a great time until Sandy kicked SpongeBob accidentally a bit too hard, and that lead his helmet and karate gloves to fall off. Sandy gasped, but SpongeBob just laughed as he lunged towards her, unexpectedly pushing her to the ground and quickly stopping himself from falling right on top of her, but if his arms weren't holding him up, he'd be right on top of her.
'Oh no! I wanted to attack her not put us in an awkward situation-' SpongeBob thought as he noticed how close they were. He expected Sandy to kick him off, but strangely she just stayed there, baffled. As if she thought he had deliberately put her in this situation but just couldn't believe it. It wasn't on purpose though. As SpongeBob was about to get off, the squirrel caught his gaze and he slowly looked away from her dark brown eyes down to her nose and then to her lips... He remembered what Patrick said about kissing Sandy. Yes. He did want to kiss her. He leaned forward but then noticed the enormous blush on her cheeks and pulled away. 'What am I doing?!' He looked up to her eyes and it looked like panic was written all over them. SpongeBob gasped, jumped up and brushed himself off. Sandy still had that panicked look in her eyes but didn't say anything when SpongeBob ran over to put on his helmet and nervously waddled back over to her, holding out his hand to help her stand up. "Maybe we should do something other than karate." SpongeBob suggested and Sandy nodded, avoiding his gaze. 'I can't believe I almost did that!' SpongeBob thought and was blushing so severely that you couldn't see his freckles. "Why did you invite me over anyway?" He asked. "I wanted to talk with you but ...I'm... I'm not feeling too well after all." "What do you mean?" "I'm feelin' kind of sick." Worry for his friend overcame SpongeBob. "Should I take you to the doctor?" "I ain't sick like that." "Do you need a Krabby Patty?" Sandy tried to laugh, still looking at the ground. "No thanks." "What?! Sandy! I'm sorry, but you are going to have to come to my house right now and you are going to eat the Krabby Patty that I'll cook for you and I assure you, you'll feel better in no time!" He grabbed her arm, waiting for Sandy to agree, but all she did was give him a terrible attempt at a smile. "I can't do that at your house." She said quietly. SpongeBob remembered the helmet thing. "Right. How about I grill one at your house? I could try to put acorns in it!" "That'd be mighty sweet of y'all but I really ain't feeling well." Sandy wanted him to leave. If she told him she was sick with something contagious he'd insist on taking her to the doctor and then SpongeBob would find out she had been lying. If she told him the truth, that she wanted to be alone; she'd hurt his feelings. And she really didn't want to do that. SpongeBob looked at her. "You look just as pretty- uh normal as usual." Sandy sighed and sat down at the picnic table. SpongeBob followed her and sat down across from her. "Sandy, you can tell me anything. I'm good with secrets." Sandy ignored him and hid her head under her arms. SpongeBob hadn't seen her like this before. Something really was wrong. "Are you homesick?" "No." "Are you're bosses wanting you to go back to Texas?" "No." "Is the invention they want you to make too hard?" Sandy sat up again. "SpongeBob! Y'all don't understand! These things can all be fixed! My problem can't!" "Then why don't you tell me what it is?" He said and gently put his hand on hers. "YOU'RE THE PROBLEM!" She screamed, then let her head fall back down onto the table and started sobbing. SpongeBob was speechless. He felt like his heart had just been shattered in a million pieces. Maybe, it was. The sponge carefully took his hand back, slowly stood up and looked at Sandy one more time. "I'm ...sorry for whatever I did to hurt your feelings...and... I... I..." SpongeBob stuttered as tears started swelling up in his large blue eyes. He stopped talking and ran away before Sandy could even react.
Yay! Cliffhangers!!! ...Most of the story I already wrote, I just always add stuff right before I post it on here (like the part with Mr. Krabs) There are a few more chapters left (I'm not exactly sure how many) I promise it'll be finished with the story soon!

Yeah I know </3 Here's the next chapter...
Chapter 4:
'So this is what a broken heart feels like. I really did love Sandy. Otherwise it couldn't possibly hurt this bad. No, I must still care about her, because otherwise couldn't I have just brushed the pain off?! ...okay, maybe I'd still be sad but- Fifteen years of being best friends and now she tells me I'm a problem!' The sponge dragged his feet across the sand as he walked home from work. It was the Tuesday after the incident with Sandy and Mr. Krabs and the customers weren't too happy about his new behavior at work. The soggy patties weren't very "tasty" and the constant crying was not the most pleasant sound to hear while eating and trying to have a conversation with the other fish at your table. But SpongeBob couldn't help it. He cared deeply for Sandy and she hurt his feelings by telling her he was a "problem". He didn't even know what he did wrong! Was it interrupting her before their karate match? Was it a bad idea to bring up Krabby Patties to her? Was it the thing with Gary on the telephone? Was it the almost-kiss? It had to be. Or was it that he was ugly, according to Patrick people run away from you when you’re ugly. But Sandy wasn't that kind of person. And stuff Patrick said was often wrong, and he was wrong that time, the real problem was that SpongeBob's breath stank. But still, Sandy probably had no interest in him and didn’t want to hurt his feelings… but she did hurt his feelings. She does know how it's like being different though. She's the only squirrel in the whole ocean! A lot of fish thought of her as a weird air-breather, but SpongeBob didn't. And she never saw him as a weird, ugly sponge –or did she? He just wished he knew what he was doing wrong. The "almost-kiss" seemed like the most likely reason for Sandy to feel uncomfortable around him, but then, she was nervous about something when he first came in too... "Hi SpongeBob." SpongeBob looked up to see Patrick standing in front of him with a concerned look on his face. "Hi Patrick. Everything alright?" "Oh...yeah... sure." Patrick's face suddenly turned back to a normal -stupid- expression. The starfish's emotions could be very confusing to understand. "I was wondering if I could use your red ninja fighting gloves." "Why not? ....I won't be using them anymore anyway." SpongeBob muttered the last part under his breath and kicked the sand as walked up to the bright pineapple. "They aren't in there." "Huh?" SpongeBob turned around to the starfish. "I said they aren't in there!" "What do you mean, Patrick?" "The gloves aren't in your house!" "You were in my house?" "I've been searching all over for them SpongeBob. I even looked in Squidward's closet!" SpongeBob closed his eyes in annoyance -which he normally didn't have towards his best friend- and gloomily turned the key in the lock in his front door. "SpongeBob this is important! Can't you see how badly I need them?!" "I have no idea what you want to do with them Patrick! And can't you see that I've had a terrible day and seriously need a few minutes alone to get my mind off of how Sandy ditched me before we even got together?!" "You aren't in a ditch." "Patrick! I mean she dumped me as a friend!" "SpongeBob I don't think you're in a dump either-" "Sandy said she doesn't like me!" SpongeBob yelled and started bawling. Patrick patted SpongeBob on the back, inadvertently hurting him. "Sandy must just be having a bad day..." "I don't think she was Patrick." SpongeBob said and straightened himself up as he opened the door. "She said I was 'a problem'." "That doesn't mean she doesn't like you-" "Of course it does! Why would she say something like that if she liked me?" "I don't know. Maybe it was Opposite Day." Usually holidays cheered him up, but this time, SpongeBob wasn't feeling better. Patrick walked into the living room. "So where is the fighting stuff?" "Do you mean karate?" Water started spilling out of his eyes again and he collapsed onto the inflatable couch. "Sandy and I used to do karate together!" Patrick, who was suddenly oblivious to SpongeBob's heartbreak, walked over to where SpongeBob's karate gear normally stood. "Where are the gloves?" "Right over there Patrick." SpongeBob pointed to the area where Patrick was standing. "I don't see them." SpongeBob angrily got up and noticed that his karate gear really wasn't there. "Huh? I always out them there... They must be in my closet. I'll be back in a second buddy." SpongeBob ran up to his bedroom and then searched all over his house for his karate gear. But the search was unsuccessful. Suddenly SpongeBob remembered exactly where he left his karate gloves. They were laying on Sandy's lawn, very close to the spot where he almost kissed her. She kicked him and they fell off- then they- He blushed at the thought, but then thought about what Sandy said afterwards and knew that it was a good thing that he hadn't actually kissed her. 'I can't go to Sandy's without calling her and she'll hate me and I-' SpongeBob glanced at the calendar and remembered how he had snuck into her house one time on Surprise Sandy Day. Even though he didn’t like the idea, he knew he had to go to her house. Hopefully she wouldn’t see him.

Aw... I still feel bad for Spongebob. Yikes he's going to sneak in Sandy's treedome. Surely this can't be the end of their friendship.

But it is.... I'm going to seperate them forever! Muhahahaha... just kidding I could barely wright the part where Sandy called him a problem so I don't think I could write about them breaking up or ending thier friendship!
Chapter 5:
SpongeBob had successfully gotten into her treedome, but something seemed odd. The gloves weren’t there. 'Sandy must have brought them inside.' He told himself and looked at Sandy’s tree from his hiding spot. Since Sandy wasn’t outside, and all of her windows facing him where shut, SpongeBob decided to sneak up closer to her home and then thought it’d be a good idea to climb up and sneak in to get the gloves. Okay, it wasn’t a good idea, but it was the only one he could come up with. So that’s what he did. SpongeBob gasped when he noticed that he could easily see through the leaves. He couldn’t see his karate gloves, but he did see the pretty squirrel sitting in her rocking chair. Of course to any ordinary fish she wouldn't seem very pretty right now. She was wearing a light purple nightgown and she had tangled unkempt fur and puffy, bloodshot eyes. SpongeBob however was oblivious to this; he knew he didn't look much better after all the crying he had done. Sandy was on the phone, with a box of tissues in her lap. "I know I don't usually call but I... I really need to talk to y'all about something..." SpongeBob heard Sandy's voice quiver as if she was afraid and terribly sad at the same time. "I miss and love y'all too... Of course I'd like to visit but... that ain't really why I called..." The eavesdropping sponge froze in shock and realization. 'I love you too... It makes perfect sense! Of course I'm a problem. Sandy is in a long distance relationship with some guy on land and then I come in here and act all lovey-dovey with the thousand bouquets and then I almost kissed her earlier...' "And he almost kissed me!" SpongeBob froze when he heard Sandy saying exactly what was on his mind 'Shrimp! I missed part of the conversation! And she's most likely asking for advice how to dump me as a friend because of how stupid I am! Kissing her?! I was about to cross the border between friendship and love and that would have ...ugh! Why didn't she just tell me she had a boyfriend on the surface!? It'd be half as complicated as it is now!' "No! It's not that I don't like him! I just don't want some dang relationship to ruin our friendship. I care a lot about him and I-" through the thick leaves SpongeBob could still notice that Sandy looked frustrated, as if the person in the other end was constantly interrupting her. "No! I do like him 'that way' but I can't afford to wish for things I know I'll never have!" The squirrel looked as if she were on the verge of crying. SpongeBob was confused. She couldn't be talking about him ...especially not to her boyfriend if she said stuff like that. "Well of course! It does seem like he likes me back but- Ma! It won't work out!" 'She's talking to her mom!' "Well... you know I'm underwater right? ... There ain't any other squirrels down 'ere!" SpongeBob wished he hadn't stopped listening until Sandy started talking about the 'almost-kiss', if only he knew who she was talking about! "Of course he's a sea critter!" Sandy blew her nose, and SpongeBob noticed that the fur on her cheeks was only matted and wet because she had been crying. 'Wait- Sandy was crying?!' "Exactly! How would that even work out? I don't think I could even have a future with him! No one would even approve of a couple like that! Interspecies marrying?! Why would anyone-" Sandy hopelessly rested her head in her hands and SpongeBob longed to get out of his hiding spot and comfort her, but she'd kill him if she found out he'd been listening to her conversation. "Yes, ma. I've thought of that. I know it sounds crazy... And what about the whole water-air thing?! We couldn't even kiss without suffocating! Oh... What kind of species?" Sandy gave a dumbfounded expression as she repeated her mother's question. 'So she hadn't told her mother who the mysterious guy is...' SpongeBob leaned closer to the "wall" and Sandy's seemed very hesitant, as if she didn't really want her mother to know who the man was. "He's a..." Sandy sighed as she looked at a picture on a side table. It was facing her so SpongeBob couldn't see it. The squirrel wiped away a tear, sighed again and started her sentence over, this time more confident. "He's a sea sponge."
SpongeBob panicked inside. Was she talking about him?! She had to be -unless she knew another sponge but- SpongeBob looked frantically around the treedome. Hope flared through him. Sandy liked him after all! -and she couldn't find out he knew this information... SpongeBob quickly reminded himself. 'I better get out of here before she finds me!' The sponge held on to the branch he was sitting in and slowly slid backwards. "Yes, Ma! Of course they move!" SpongeBob heard Sandy's voice talking to the phone again and the sponge scooted so far away from her tree that he was becoming unsure if that part of the branch could even hold him, then, as if the branch had read his thoughts, it started wobbling and SpongeBob couldn't even get hold of another branch before it happened.
I may put this story on FF.net someday but I'm not sure yet :/ There's going to be one or two more chapters -depends on how I end the one I'm currently writing Anyway, I don't really think one ounce can break a whole oak tree branch off, but this is the SpongeBob universe. ;D

Yikes the branch is about to break. He's about to get caught. I write most of my stories on Fanfiction.net. I may post my stories from here to Fanfiction.net I think you should post your story on Fanfiction.net. I think other people will enjoy it more people will read it there than they will here.

Thanks! I may change the name though -Romance in Bikini Bottom sounds a bit more like some dramatic love triangle and I bet someone already used that title before XD Okay here's the last chapter. I hope you like it! I couldn't get this finished yesterday because I wasn't able to get on the computer. :/
Chapter 7 (because I can't count and wrote "Chapter 4" twice XD):
Sandy dropped the telephone and raced outside. All she had heard was a loud snap, a high-pitched scream, glass breaking, and water splashing on to the ground. That was enough to make her panic. If something happened to her dome, she'd die for sure. But she quickly found out that the loud noise wasn't from her dome, it was from her tree! A large branch covered in leaves had fallen off. 'What in tarnation?' The squirrel rubbed her eyes once more before squatting to the branch and moving away a few heavy sets of leaves, which revealed an injured, dehydrated sea sponge and bits of wet broken glass all around him. "SpongeBob?!" Sandy gasped, quickly ran to the wall of her dome and grabbed the water hose. She sprayed the water on him and sighed with relief when the sponge absorbed the water and regained his normal shape. "I'msosorrySandy!Ididn'twanttobreakintoyourhouse! AllIwantedwastogetmykarategearforPatrickandI-" "Stop talkin' like a jackrabbit that just saw an armadillo fly! I can't catch up with you jabbering like that! ...Please talk a bit slower..." "I just wanted to apologize for coming to your house without knocking or anything, all I wanted was to get my karate gear and leave!" SpongeBob stood up and took a few backward steps towards the door, still facing Sandy, he continued talking. "I know you have something against me and I-" "What do I have against y'all?” She said and took a step back. "You said I was a problem-" "What are y'all talking about?" "Earlier..." SpongeBob trailed off as he gave her a reminding look. "Ma!" Sandy suddenly screamed and ran up into her bedroom. SpongeBob slowly and confusingly followed her upstairs, but he stopped at her open door. For some reason going into her bedroom all the sudden seemed inappropriate, especially after what he heard her say on the phone. 'What if she found out I know her secret?!' "I'm so sorry! I had a visitor and he-" Sandy was back on the phone and got that annoyed look on her face again, the face that showed the fact that she hated being interrupted. "I really need to go now! I'll call you back as soon as possible! ... That's great. ... Love you too! Bye!" Sandy quickly hung up the phone and spun around to face SpongeBob. "You don't have to stand there the whole time." "Should I jump up and down?" "I mean y'all can come in." She went over to where he was standing and realized how awkward he was behaving. 'He must be nervous about something, or is it what I'm wearing?' The squirrel wondered and looked down to her nightgown. 'Nah, I'm usually less covered up than this. There must be somethin' else on his mind.' "What about my helmet?" SpongeBob interrupted her thoughts with a hoarse voice due to the lack of water. "Right! One second buddy!" Sandy ran downstairs and got a spare helmet for SpongeBob to put on. The sponge took it and a few drops of water splashed on to the ground as he put it on. "We better go downstairs." The squirrel suggested and the two walked downstairs and into her living room. When SpongeBob looked up at Sandy, she gave him the 'I want an explanation' look. She had realized that something other than getting his sparring equipment and helmet was bugging him. "I was looking for my karate gear!" He repeated and watched her walk over to a shelf and hand him the red gloves without saying a thing. "Thanks Sandy. I guess I better start heading home now..." "No you ain't! Why were y'all climbing on my tree in the first place?" She asked and grabbed his arm as he was about to run off. "I...I..." He broke his arm off and attempted to make away, but Sandy held on to his side, he smiled awkwardly at her. "Sandy, this isn't a very good time for hugging... I have to feed Gary and Patrick is waiting-" "Why were y'all spying on me?!" "Sandy, all I did was look for my gloves..." He looked down at his karate gear in his hands and then 'innocently' looked up to Sandy. "And you had to climb up my oak for that?" "No, but I couldn't just interrupt your long distance telephone conversation." Sandy squint her eyes. "What do you mean by long distance...?" "I thought you were on the phone with your mo-" The sponge realized his mistake and tried to get out of her grasp, but it only got tighter. "Sandy! Gary needs me!" "Gary can wait. I need an explanation. How'd you know I was calling someone from Texas?" "Okay! I accidentally heard a little bit of your conversation with your mom but I really only was up there to get my karate gear and leave-" "You were eavesdropping on my conversation?!" "No..." "That's illegal where I come from." "But we are luckily in Bikini Bottom..." SpongeBob chuckled nervously. "The only things you can get arrested for here is failing a student too many times, littering, stealing Neptune's crown, running around naked-" "And you've done that how many times now?" SpongeBob blushed and tried to get away, but Sandy was still holding on to him. "What did you hear?!" The angry squirrel demanded. "Everything." The word came out of SpongeBob's lips more like a squeak. He was nervous and Sandy let go of him and turned completely pale, though her friend didn't notice this because of her fur. "Is that bad?" He asked after a long time of silence. "Y'all heard... everything?" Sandy shakily walked backwards to her couch and clumsily sat down on it. SpongeBob began to look away, but Sandy quickly sat straight up and stared at him. "You mean you heard what I was saying to my ma... You heard that I-" "Sandy, you really don't have to worry! I promise I won't tell anyone what you said! We can just keep that between the two of us and-" "What do you mean? I don't care who else hears it; all I was worried was that you'd hear it, and y'all heard it!" "It really doesn't bother me Sandy-" "You don't see that something like that would completely destroy our friendship?!" SpongeBob was confused. "What are you talking about?" "A rel- I mean, tell me what you heard first." "You kept talking about some guy you liked and how you really liked him and then you said he was a sponge- I'm not sure if you were talking about me, but I suppose-" "Of course I was talking about you!" SpongeBob's eyes lit up and he smiled. Sandy didn't seem very happy at the sight. "Then why am I a problem, if you like me?" "Because.... because..." Sandy looked around the room, looking for an excuse "y'all just walked in here and I bet you have no idea how terrible and mortifyin' it is to have the person y'all like know that you just told your parents that you like him-" "I can imagine it." "No you can't! I bet you've never even liked someone like that!" "What are you talking about, Sandy?! I've liked you 'like that' for the last fifteen years of course I-" SpongeBob shut up. "What did y'all just say?" "Nothing Sandy! I didn't say anything!" "No, you said you liked me 'that way' what did y'all mean by that?" "I think you're pretty...?" He winced. "No. Y'all meant somethin' else..." Sandy said getting up and slowly walking towards him, who fell onto his knees. "Okay Sandy! I'll admit it! I love you Sandy! I'm sorry if you don't like me that much! But I love you! At first I only liked you but every day it got worse and worse and sometimes I can't even focus at work because I can't get you off my mind and I've been thinking about it so much lately... I've finally come to the point where I really wish we could be more than friends! I've always thought you were pretty and I've wanted us to be close ever since we first met... But I never intended to get this attached to you this much and now it's too late and I'm sorry, Sandy! I'm so sorry!" SpongeBob ended up crying in Sandy's arms, the female overwhelmed with shock. She had expected him to tell her he had a tiny crush on her, not for him to confess his love to her and then apologize for his feelings. Sandy was lost at words. She never thought that SpongeBob actually loved her. She had always thought her feelings were somewhat unrequited, especially after SpongeBob didn’t kiss her when he had the chance. "Why are you sorry?" Sandy finally asked hesitantly but soft. "I...I" her voice quivered a bit; she had never said these words in a sentence like this to anyone outside of her family before. "I... I ...love you ...too." SpongeBob smiled and took Sandy's hands in his, Sandy was about to smile back, but instead she frowned. "We're a different species SpongeBob... I really do care about y'all but ...how can we be together when we're so ...different?" "Mr. Krabs was married to a whale." SpongeBob’s answer came out unexpectedly quick, as if he had planned saying that for a long time. Sandy looked at him "Crabs and whales are-" she had no idea what she was going to say -or could say- to make Pearl's parents sound more compatible than a sponge and a squirrel. (Even though, the latter seemed very odd.) "See? It'd work out Sandy!" He said and started to jump up and down excitingly. Sandy smiled, really not wanting her friend to get his hopes up too high. Sure, she liked him but there was a lot to think about before two best friends who are a complete other species decide to become a couple. "Do y'all think others will approve of it?" "What do you mean?" "Well... I don't know... a land and sea critter bein' together... doesn't that sound-" "Oh Sandy! Our children will be like mermaids!" He said excitingly and hugged her tightly, Sandy flushed a deep red and when SpongeBob let go he could see the redness beneath her fur and blushed himself. "I'm sorry... That was... unintended." Sandy smiled awkwardly and then looked out the window. It was getting dark. SpongeBob noticed this too and shuddered. "I guess I better go home before it gets completely dark." "Yeah, I guess so." Sandy looked at him. He smiled brightly at her before opening the door to her lawn. "I guess we'll talk about this subject a bit more tomorrow?" "Why not?" Sandy said and laughed, “Wait just a second SquarePants.” “Yes Sandy?” “So, you really do like me more than a friend?” “Yes, I always have and always will.” Sandy smiled. “Was that what was bothering you?” SpongeBob asked, thinking about Sunday. The squirrel nodded. “I was afraid that y’all only thought of me as a friend.”
They both smiled at eachother as SpongeBob opened the door. Now, it was SpongeBob’s turn to not know what to say, the conversation seemed finished, but something was urging him do one more thing before he left. Something he should have done the last time he was at her house. SpongeBob carefully took off his helmet and quickly checked to see if any water had spilled out. Then he walked over to Sandy and before his lips met hers he whispered “I’m sorry I didn’t do this earlier and I could never think of you as just a friend.”
The End.

Aw perfect. Who cares what other people think about them? I think a lot of people would have supported them being together anyway. Great story, I hope you do more.
