(This is a brief description on what the story will be about. I will write the first chapter on another day.)
I wanted to use another villain other than Plankton. I was thinking the Flying Dutchman can be pretty evil. In his first appearance in ScardyPants he was originally going to steal people's souls. So in this story The Flying Dutchman is looking for souls to steal. He remembers his encounters with Spongebob and remembered that he was originally going to steal Spongebob's soul and he enjoyed nothing more that taking the souls of innocent people. He enjoyed hearing their eternal cries of sorrow and misery. Of course Spongebob being afraid will run and do anything to escape. He runs to get Sandy's help since she is a scientist he thought she would be the perfect person to help him, but can a tragic turn of events make Spongebob change his mind? Will the Flying Dutchman get his way?
(Comments ahead of time? I like having comments so I know people are reading.)

That sounds like a brilliant story! I can't wait to read it!!! I've only read like one fanfic with the Flying Dutchman and the soul mates title and the fact that the Dutchman takes souls makes it sound really exciting!

Ok before I start the story I think I'll make things a little easier. I'll use ( ) when I want a character to think something and " " when a character is speaking.
The Flying Dutchman was on his ship one night and he was counting the souls that he had. He opened up the bag and he heard the screams of terror and cries of misery. To him it sounded fairly quiet. He realized that it had been a few days since he stole anyone's soul. He loved hearing the cries and screams of miserable souls. He listened off in the distance and heard familiar laughing. He knew exactly who it was. He looked down towards the sea floor and saw Spongebob. He knew Spongebob had been avoiding him. He had several encounters with the sponge, every time he saw Spongebob he would always be annoyed. On their first encounter he felt insulted by Spongebob's attempt of being scary. Of course when he took the sheet off he actually did get scared. He had several other encounters and he had several opportunities to steal his soul but for some reason the thought didn't occur to him at the time. Spongebob had been nothing but trouble and he was going to make it his goal to steal Spongebob's soul. Of course The Flying Dutchman would usually go around to steal bad souls but he also enjoyed stealing the souls of the innocent. The cries and screams of the innocent were that much more satisfying to him. The Flying Dutchman laughs evilly and thinks to himself.
(I will have your soul Squarepants.)
He makes his way down to the sponge. For Spongebob this was very unexpected. Spongebob was making his way home from work when all of a sudden he saw a bolt of lightning almost strike the spot where he was at.
"Woah... Crazy weather."
Then he heard evil laughing and The Flying Dutchman appeared right in front of him.
"Spongebob Squarepants... Your time has come."
At first Spongebob started laughing because he thought this was a joke.
"That's a good one Mr. Dutchman. What's going on this time?"
"What you think this is a joke? I'm serious... I'm here for your soul."
"What? This can't be... You said one time before that you only collected bad souls. You wanted Mr. Krabs' soul because he's cheap, he kind of traded me for a bunch of change."
Spongebob kept on talking but The Flying Dutchman had enough and sent another lightning bolt towards him.
"Enough already... You weasled your way out last time but that's not going to happen this time. I can take whoever's soul I want whether they're good or bad, and there is nothing you can do about it."
The Flying Dutchman is caught up in his evil laugh that he didn't notice Spongebob run away. Spongebob ran as fast as he could with many thoughts in his head.
(I've got to get out of here? I think I completely forgot how evil The Flying Dutchman can really be. He's after my soul for whatever reason. While he's busy with his evil laugh I'm going to get out of here as fast as I can. He will do anything and everything to get my soul. So he's after good and bad souls now. I can't run home... That's too obvious and he knows where I live. There's only one person that can help me now. I just hope she will help me. Sandy is a scientist... Surely she'll know what to do.)
Spongebob looked back, he knew not to scream or The Flying Duchman would know he was getting away. He looked back and luckily he wasn't being followed. The Flying Dutchman realized that Spongebob got away and knew that if he wanted to steal his soul he would need a bit of help. He calls his ghost friends and tells them to start the search for him.
"Note to self... When doing your evil laugh make sure you know your victim is trapped or dead first. Ok guys make sure you find Spongebob Squarepants. At any cost... You can't miss him, he's a sponge, he's yellow, and he's square. Make sure he is alive when you bring him to me, I'll take it from there."
Spongebob knew Sandy would be mad at him because it was so late but he would do anything to stay alive and stay away from The Flying Dutchman. Once he was sure he was far enough away from The Flying Dutchman he started banging on Sandy's door and yelling for help.
"Sandy! Please open up! Help, Sandy!"
Sandy was asleep and wasn't happy about being woke up. She made her way to the door and unlocked it. Spongebob then opened the door and ran inside. He saw Sandy glaring at him.
"You better have a good reason for waking me up Spongebob."
Spongebob has been in Sandy's treedome plenty of times and knew where certain thing were. He pressed a button and a metal sheet covered the whole glass treedome so no one could see in, and since it was so dark the lights on the inside came on. He also pressed a button that activated Sandy's sprinklers so he wouldn't have to wear his helmet. Sandy covered he eyes as the room lit up. She was starting to lose her patience.
"Would you please care to tell me what's going on Spongebob?"
"I'm sorry for coming in so late like this, but please Sandy you've got to help me. This is an emergency."
"What's going on Spongebob?"
"The Flying Dutchman is after me. He wants my soul, he started stealing good souls and bad souls now. Somehow I got away and I came here. I thought that since you're a scientist you would know what to do about a ghost situation. I can't let him see me. Will you please help me Sandy?"
"Yeah Spongebob, why didn't you say so sooner? I remember seeing The Flying Dutchman once before, I was terrified for you back then too. Sure I'll help Spongebob. Don't you worry Spongebob, you're safe while I'm around."
"So do you have ghost fighting equipment?"
"Actually I don't Spongebob, but I know how to build it. I'll get started on it tomorrow. I think we need to get some shut eye. Sandy pressed another button and a sleeping bag and pillow popped out."
"You have a button for that too Sandy?"
"Well... Sometimes I like to sleep out under the stars Spongebob."
"Ok. Thanks for letting me stay the night here Sandy."
"Sure Spongebob that's what friends are for. Ok... Now can I go back to sleep?"
"Oh yes... Sorry Sandy."
Spongebob settled in for the night, still slightly worried about The Flying Dutchman getting him. He felt a bit guilty about having to stay with Sandy, he had a feeling that he would need to stay for more than one night. He didn't know how long Sandy would let him stay, but that was something he would worry about later. He was thankful to Sandy for letting him stay tonight. He listened as the sprinklers watered the grass. He had enough moisture to survive in her treedome. He turned off the lights and settled down in his sleeping bag. He tried his best to get all of the thoughts out of his head as he fell asleep. Meanwhile the Flying Dutchman and his friends were right outside Sandy's treedome still looking around for Spongebob. The Flying Dutchman had a feeling that Spongebob was still somewhere nearby.
(So much for the you can run but you can't hide line. Don't think you can hide from me forever Squarepants. You're close... I can feel it. I will find you and I will steal your soul.)
(To be continued... Comments so far?)

The next day Spongebob woke up in Sandy's treedome. At first he didn't really remember why he was there but then the events from the night before came back to him. He was hiding from the Flying Dutchman. He realized that if he left Sandy's treedome that there is a risk of The Flying Dutchman finding him, but he worried about how long Sandy will let him stay. He also worried about his job. Working at the Krusty Krab has always been his dream job, he was worried about Mr. Krabs firing him for not showing up to work. How was he supposed to go to work when he was too afraid to even step outside?
(What am I going to do? I know Sandy isn't going to let me stay here forever. I've got to get to work, but if I step outside The Flying Dutchmab might find me.)
He was so worried that he didn't notice Sandy come out. Sandy saw Spongebob pacing around and couldn't help but worry about him.
"Hey Spongebob take it easy."
"What? Oh hey Sandy I didn't see you come out. You scared me a little."
"Sorry Spongebob I didn't mean to scare you."
"I'm so thankful to have a friend like you Sandy. Thank you so much for letting me stay here last night. I couldn't go home because The Flying Dutchman knows where I live. If I leave there is a chance on The Flying Dutchman finding me, but I know you're not going to let me stay here forever. I don't know what to do Sandy"
She could tell that Spongebob was really afraid and waned to help him.
"Don't worry Spongebob, I told you last night that I would help you. You can stay for as long as you need to."
"I don't know Sandy, I feel like such a burden for you with me staying here."
"It's ok Spongebob, it gets kind of lonely here sometimes."
"What should I do about work Sandy? I can't leave with The Flying Dutchman looking for me, but if I don't go to work Mr. Krabs will fire me."
"Well once we know The Flying Dutchman is gone for good you can tell Mr. Krabs what happened. I'm sure he'll understand."
"Right. So what do you plan to do Sandy?"
"Well I do have a very powerful vacuum cleaner, it sucks up dirt, leaves, and one of my good towels. I'm sure it will take care of our little ghost situation."
"The Flying Dutchman is more powerful than you think Sandy. I don't think a vacuum cleaner is going to solve my problem."
"Maybe you should just stop worrying about it. I don't think The Flying Dutchman even knows that you're here. Why don't we do karate or something so we can get your mind off it."
"You're right Sandy... I worry too much. Lets do some karate."
They both put on their karate gear and start the fight. Sandy also showed him how to do a new move.
"Ok Spongebob, for this move you want to hold my arms behind my back with one hand, then use your other hand and your feet to trip me up and flip me over. That way I won't be able to move or escape to attack you. Go ahead Spongebob try it."
"I don't know Sandy... The way you described it sounded like it would hurt, I don't really want to hurt you."
"It'll be fine Spongebob. Try it, if you don't I'll use it against you when we fight."
"Ok I'll try it, but if I hurt you just let me know."
Sandy acts like she was going to run at Spongebob for an attack, but Spongebob jumps over her and grabs her arms from behind and he pulls her in towards his chest. She couldn't move so she waited for him to flip her over, but he didn't. He felt his heart rate pick up as he held her close. They've never really been this physically close before. Since Sandy still had her sprinklers on Spongebob didn't need his helmet anymore. He enjoyed this closeness they had, but Sandy wondered what was going on because she expected him to flip her over. He loosened his grip a little bit and turned her around to face him. He still had her in his arms, he just couldn't bring himself to flip her over as he looked into her eyes. Sandy didn't say anything and didn't really know what to do, but she didn't seem to struggle out of his grip. As he stared into her eyes, she found herself staring right back into his eyes. They didn't really realize it at first but they started moving in for a kiss, but Spongebob finally realized what was going on and let Sandy go.
"Oh um... Sorry Sandy. I don't know what came over me, but thanks for letting me stay for the night. I don't know what I'd do without you Sandy."
"Um... You're Welcome."
After they almost kissed things seemed a little awkward and Spongebob just wanted to get out of there. He wasn't really thinking at the time and he leaves Sandy's treedome and heads towards the Krusty Krab. Sandy thought the situation was a bit awkward but she replayed it in her head. He had her in his arms for the karate move but he didn't flip her. She remembered that he loosened his grip and turned her around. Then they stared into each other's eyes and she didn't do anything else after that, she was at a loss for words as she was staring into his eyes. It seemed like for a moment he got closer to her face, but then backed away and let her go. She then had a love struck smile on her face as she thought about it.
(He almost kissed me.)
As Spongebob got to the Krusty Krab he started to think as he got to work.
(I'm such an idiot... I almost kissed Sandy. What's wrong with me. Now she'll know I have a crush on her for sure. I can't go back to her treedome... That would make things way to weird between us. Ah! I'm such an idiot... I also just realized that The Flying Dutchman could have seen me. I can't go back home and now I can't go back over to Sandy's. Maybe I'll just have to stay here.)
The Flying Dutchman and his friends were still out searching for Spongebob. What Spongebob didn't know is that The Flying Dutchman could sense fear. It lead him straight to Sandy's treedome.
(Ok I know Spongebob was here. I can smell his fear. What a wonderful smell, that's the best way to track down you're victim... Smell the fear in the air. It's very strong from this uh... dome thing.)
"Ok boys I think I found him. I can take it from here."
Since The Flying Dutchman is a ghost he went right through the dome and was on the inside. He laughs evilly as he was sure that he would find Spongebob on the inside. He was surprised when he saw Sandy instead. Sandy was surprised herself when she saw The Flying Dutchman.
"What? You're not Spongebob Squarepants."
Sandy was terrified. The Flying Dutchman was in her treedome and he was looking for Spongebob. She hoped he didn't see Spongebob when he left. She tried to act natural and try to get The Flying Dutchman to leave.
"Um no I'm not."
"But I was so sure that her was here."
The Flying Dutchman was frustrated and left the treedome, but he picked up Spongebob's scent again and he started heading for the Krusty Krab. Sandy was sure that Spongebob went to work once he left her treedome so she had to warn Spongebob before The Flying Dutchman got to him first. The phone rang at The Krusty Krab and Squidward handed it to Spongebob.
"It's for you... It's your girlfriend."
Spongebob was confused at this.
"What? I don't have a girlfriend... Yet."
He says the yet part quietly.
"Just take the phone."
Squidward rolls his eyes and continued to read his magazine.
"Hello."
"Spongebob you've got to get out of there right now. The Flying Dutchman came by the treedome. He knows you were here, but was disappointed when he didn't find you. Now he's headed towards the Krusty Krab."
"What? Did you tell him."
"No, but he seems to be tracking you down somehow. You've got to get out of there before he gets there. Come back here and I'll take care of this."
"Ok."
He hangs up the phone. He was sure that The Flying Dutchman was going to come on through the front door so he runs out the back door and ran to Sandy's treedome as fast as he could. He wasn't really worried about the awkward moment they had anymore. He was more concerned about getting away from The Flying Dutchman. As The Flying Dutchman entered the Krusty Krab he scared people as he became more angry as he was looking for Spongebob. Squidward was terrified too so he told him that he was in the kitchen. The Flying Dutchman searched the kitchen but didn't see Spongebob anywhere, but he did see that the back door was slightly open so he opened the door and saw Spongebob running in the direction of the treedome.
"Ah so he was hiding there."
The Flying Dutchman evilly takes his time as he made his way back towards the treedome. As Spongebob ran back to the treedome he didn't know he was being followed.
"Thanks for calling Sandy he would have found me for sure if you hadn't of called."
Sandy had her vacuum cleaner out anyway.
"The Flying Dutchman knew you were here, but I have a feeling that he may be on his way back here."
"I can't take this anymore Sandy. I can't keep living in fear like this."
"You know Spongebob... I don't think The Flying Dutchman is the only thing worrying you."
"What do you mean?"
"I mean the way you ran out of here. It seemed like you were afraid of me."
"Well it's just that I... we almost... you know. Then I just ran out because I thought you would be mad at me. Things just got weird, I ran out without even thinking if The Flying Dutchman saw me or not. You still called me at the Krusty Krab to warn me so thank you again Sandy, I don't know what I'd do without you."
"Sure thing Spongebob, nothing is going to happen to you, not while I'm around."
Spongebob couldn't help himself and he brings Sandy into a hug. Sandy hugged him back. The moment was almost perfect until The Flying Dutchman made his way back in her treedome.
"Aw how sweet, protecting your boyfriend I see."
Spongebob screamed.
"Finally I found you Spongebob. There's nowhere left to run and nowhere left to hide."
Spongebob was panicking, but Sandy made a confident karate stance and was about to fight.
"Get behind me Spongebob, I'll take care of this."
The Flying Dutchman laughs at this but Sandy jumps at him as the battle began.
(To be continued.)

Spongebob was terrified, The Flying Dutchman must have seen him come right into Sandy's treedome. Sandy was ready to fight, she told Spongebob to get behind her. He did just that, he backed up behind her and watched from behind her tree as she prepared to fight The Flying Dutchman. Not only was he terrified about his life, but now he was terrified for Sandy's life too. She was fighting his fight, he felt guilty about hiding, but he didn't know what to do. Spongebob wondered how Sandy would fight The Flying Dutchman since he was a ghost. He watched as Sandy made a karate stance and jumped at The Flying Dutchman. She does a karate kick but she ended up going right through him. The Flying Dutchman laughed at her attempt.
"Foolish girl... You can't fight me that way. You can't even touch me, I'm nothing but air."
Sandy then pulls out her vacuum cleaner and pointed it at him.
"You really think that a vacuum cleaner can stop me? I'm the most feared and powerful ghost anyone has ever known."
Sandy turns on her vacuum cleaner to it's highest setting and sure enough she captures The Flying Dutchman. Spongebob comes out and hugs Sandy.
"You did it Sandy."
His celebration was cut short when the vacuum burst into pieces and everything came out. The Flying Dutchman got angrier as his patience was wearing thin.
"I've had just about enough of this."
The Flying Dutchman then is ready to teleport out of the treedome, but he wasn't going alone. An eerie green glow appeared around Spongebob and Sandy. Spongebob knew what was happening and quickly grabbed Sandy's suit and helmet.
"Sandy he's about to teleport us to his ship. Here you'll need your suit and helmet."
"Wait how do you know that?"
"Because he's teleported me to his ship before."
"Ok so I'll put this on then."
Sandy acts quick and puts on her helmet and suit and just in time because just when she put on her helmet they were teleported to The Flying Dutchman's ship just like Spongebob said.
"Oh... You were right Spongebob. I'm glad I put this on."
The Flying Dutchman wonders why Sandy was wearing a helmet, but he didn't really care. He knew he had a better chance of destroying them with them on his ship. He picked up his sword and challenges Sandy to a sword fight.
"Well it's a good thing that I've been training for situations like this."
"But wait Sandy how is this fair? If karate and your vacuum cleaner didn't work, what makes you think this will work? Won't the sword just go through him?"
"It will but I think the sword will be more effective, besides he's the one wanting me to fight him."
The Flying Dutchman cut them off and was willing to make a deal.
"Ok squirrel, I'm here to offer you a deal. If you can beat me in a sword fight by getting your sword through me I'll return you and Spongebob home, but if I win well... I'll take both of your souls."
Sandy was feeling very confident and she was willing to accept his challenge.
"I accept your challenge."
The Flying Dutchman was thrilled because almost no one beat him when it came to sword fights. Sandy picked up her sword and they began their fight. Spongebob watched nervously as the swords clanged. At first it seemed like The Flying Dutchman was winning as he and Sandy walked around the ship as they fought. Then Sandy started to have the upper hand as the fight continued up towards the sail. The fight grew more extreme but at this point it seemed like anyone could win. The fight seemed to go on high above Spongebob's head. Sandy was on a thin board that supported the sail. The Flying Dutchman was trying to keep up with her, but Sandy was too fast. Sandy looses her balance for a moment as she looked down at the bottom of the ship.
(Woah... I'm not really afraid of heights, but I didn't even know I was up here.)
The Flying Dutchman noticed that she stopped for a moment to look down. Then he would make his move. Sandy snapped out of it long enough to block his attack, but since she reacted so quick and since she was on the edge of the board she lost her balance and fell towards the bottom of the ship. The impact itself wasn't enough to kill her, but when she fell it ended up shattering her helmet leaving her without air. Spongebob saw this and was about to run over to her but The Flying Dutchman got to her first, reached inside of her and took her soul. Then he laughs evilly.
"You see... I always win."
Spongebob then ran over to Sandy's lifeless body.
"No! Sandy!"
He holds her in his arms tightly as he started crying. The Flying Dutchman noticed that Spongebob wasn't trying to run away anymore.
"Um... Aren't you going to run?"
"What's the point of running anymore. There's no escaping my fate. This is all my fault... Sandy died trying to protect me. She didn't deserve this."
"Well what's done is done."
"Wait Mr. Dutchman... What if I made you a deal?"
"What kind of deal?"
"Sandy died trying to protect me... Would you give her back her soul if I were to give up mine?"
"Well originally I was going to take your soul anyway, but why all of a sudden would you even think about giving up your soul?"
"For Sandy... If you give Sandy back her soul, I promise I won't run when you go to take my soul. I love Sandy more than I fear death."
"Love... That's the reason... Love, it does crazy things to people, but I'll take you up on your offer. Since she is an air breather first I'll need to give her the ability to breathe underwater. Are you sure you want to do this?"
"I'm sure Mr. Dutchman... I love Sandy and I would do anything for her... even if it means giving up my own life."
"Ok... You've got yourself a deal."
Spongebob still has Sandy in his arms, but he prepares for the end to come. He didn't exactly know what The Flying Dutchman was going to do, but he didn't really care. All he wanted was for Sandy to live. The Flying Dutchman was a ghost of his word, first he gave Sandy back her soul and the ability to breathe underwater, it would just take her a few minutes to wake up.
"Now Spongebob here in a few minutes she will wake up. As you can see she is breathing underwater now, I'll give you a minute to say what you want to her."
Spongebob held Sandy as tight as he could to his chest.
"Sandy... We've been through so much together, but one thing I've wanted you to know is that I love you Sandy. I've had so many chances to tell you, but I was too afraid. Now when you wake up I hope you know I did this for you Sandy because I love you. Well now it looks like we'll never be together, but I'll love you forever even if you never felt the same way... I guess this is goodbye Sandy."
He gave her a quick, but gentle kiss on the lips and one more tight hug before letting her go. Sandy could feel the kiss, but woke up to evil laughing. The first thing she saw when she opened her eyes was The Flying Dutchman taking Spongebob's soul.
"What a fool would give up for love, but I admire the boy's courage."
Sandy could still hardly move, she realized that she wasn't wearing a helmet, but what shocked her more is that she realized that The Flying Dutchman took Spongebob's soul. She cried over his lifeless body, but soon her sadness was replaced with rage and hatred towards The Flying Dutchman for taking Spongebob away from her.
"No... Spongebob! Dutchman you gutless coward! How could you do this?"
"Foolish girl... He chose this... He gave up his own life so you can live."
"No... It can't be true."
"It is true. He did it for you... he even said that he loved you. I heard it with my own ears. I guess he also felt guilty about you dying for him so he wanted you to live so he traded your soul for his."
"He loves me?"
Sandy couldn't believe this. She started getting tears in her eyes, she thought it was only a dream, but she remembered hearing him say that he loved her and she even felt him kiss her. She thought it was only a dream, but now she started to believe what The Flying Dutchman told her. Spongebob did love her, why else would she give up his life for her?
"Ok get going before I change my mind and take your soul anyway."
"You'll have to fight me. I'll fight for him. One last fight. If I win you give me back Spongebob, if you win you get my soul."
"I can't believe this. You already tried this once."
"I lost my balance and fell. I almost had you beat and you know it."
"Ok... You want a fight... Well it's a fight you'll get."
They each pick up a sword as a new fight began. Sandy was going to fight for Spongebob's life or die trying.
(To be continued.)

Sandy was still trying to get over the fact that Spongebob sacrificed himself for her. So Sandy could live not only did The Flying Dutchman have to return her soul, but since Sandy's air helmet shattered The Flying Dutchman had to give her the ability to breathe underwater. Sandy planned on fighting to save Spongebob, if she failed she had a feeling that her and Spongebob would be re-united. Spongebob told her that he loved her. She shivered at the thought of losing. When her helmet shattered she knew she would die from lack of oxygen, but she remembered the feeling of The Flying Dutchman reaching inside of her and taking her soul. She witnessed The Flying Dutchman take Spongebob's soul. Spongebob didn't even put up a fight as The Flying Dutchman reached into Spongebob's chest and pulled out his soul. Now Sandy made a deal with The Flying Dutchman, if she beat him in a sword fight he would return Spongebob's soul.
Sandy knew this was her last chance, she was fueled by rage and hatred for The Flying Dutchman because he took Spongebob away from her. She was either going to save Spongebob or end up joining him. She grabbed the sword again and started fight The Flying Dutchman again. Sandy made sure to keep the fight on the lower deck this time. She made the mistake of fighting high in the air the first time. Throughout most of the fight The Flying Dutchman had Sandy on the defensive. The Flying Dutchman felt confident because no one ever beat him in a sword fight. Sandy wasn't about to give up. Speed was her friend last time, Sandy sped up her pace and got The Flying Dutchman on the defensive. The Flying Dutchman started to feel less confident as the fight went on. Then something distracted him, the cries and screams from his soul bag. He blocks on of Sandy's attacks and pushes the swords to the left, but Sandy acts quick and swings her sword to the right and places her sword right through him.
The Flying Dutchman couldn't believe it. Sandy just pushed her sword right through him. It was the first time he ever lost a sword fight. Since he was a ghost it didn't hurt him. He became angry over his loss. Sandy was happy because she believed The Flying Dutchman would keep his word. She leaned down towards Spongebob's body as she waited for him to return Spongebob's soul.
"You lose Dutchman. A deal is a deal."
"That's what you think squirrel."
Sandy saw what The Flying Dutchman was going to do. He still had his sword in his hand and was about to strike. Sandy knew the end was near. She held Spongebob tight in her arms as she prepared for the end. Just as The Flying Dutchman was about to strike it was like an invisible force field surrounded her. The Flying Dutchman was confused as to why his sword didn't strike Sandy. He tried it again, but still the invisible force field blocked him from striking her. Sandy wondered what was going on because she was sure he would have killed her by now. He had heard of something like this before but it had never happened to him before. He took out a book about souls and turned to a certain page and started reading.
(When you go to take a soul, if you took one soul and someone else sacrifices their life for that soul it could be a sign of true love. If by some chance when the other soul will fight for someone else that feels the same way then those two souls are soul mates and are joined together by love meaning... You can't claim their souls because love is stronger than death and evil.)
"Barnacles... I've been wasting my time."
Sandy noticed that The Flying Dutchman was busy reading his book and storming around. Whether anyone knew it or not The Flying Dutchman still kept his word on the deal, but sort of against his will. What he didn't know was that one of his souls escaped. Sandy still held Spongebob in her arms. She wasn't exactly sure what to do, she leaned down to him and gave him a gentle kiss on the lips. (Nickelodeon goes Disney with the true love's kiss thing.) As Sandy ended the kiss there was a glow of light around them and Spongebob's soul entered his body.
"Spongebob?"
He opens his eyes, at first his vision was blurry, but it was as if he saw a glow right around Sandy's head. He thought he was still dead.
"Sandy? Am I dead?"
"No. Spongebob you're alive!"
Sandy smiles at him and brings him for a tight hug.
"It was you Sandy... You saved me. You fought The Flying Dutchman and you won."
"Yeah but we're still here."
The Flying Dutchman finally comes back and knows he is defeated and came back out to them.
Sandy and Spongebob held onto each other as The Flying Dutchman came closer to them. The Flying Dutchman comes at them one more time and is going to strike them with lightning, but the lightning came right back at him. He gave up because he finally realized that he no longer had the power to keep them there. They were teleported right back to Sandy's treedome. They were teleported to the outside. Now that Sandy could breathe underwater that left her wondering if she would be able to breathe inside of her home anymore. Spongebob politely opened the door for her. She smiled at him and thanked him as she went in. Spongebob followed right behind her. She took a moment and breathed in the air. She could now breathe underwater and the air around her. Of course for Spongebob's sake she still had her sprinklers going for him so he wouldn't need a helmet. Sandy and Spongebob sat and talked for a while.
"So Sandy... it looks like we made it."
"Yeah... The Flying Dutchman couldn't even touch us."
"I guess that's the end of my ghost problem."
"I can open up the treedome again and look outside."
Sandy pressed a button and the metal that covered the glass uncovered the whole treedome.
"There's just something I don't understand Sandy."
"What's that Spongebob?"
"At some point he had your soul, and at some point he had mine. What I don't understand is why all of a sudden he couldn't touch us when we were together."
"I don't know either Spongebob. From what I heard... The Flying Dutchman said you traded your soul for mine. I just can't believe you would do that for me Spongebob."
"I did it because I love you Sandy."
"I love you too Spongebob... That's why I fought for you."
"Maybe he couldn't touch us because he realized that we love each other. They say love is stronger than death and evil."
"That's it Spongebob love. I heard The Flying Dutchman mention something about soul mates. He said that he couldn't take the souls of soul mates because love is stronger than death and evil."
"You know Sandy... I've really come to love you over the years, but somehow I knew that I would come to love you so much that I would die for you."
Sandy is so overcome by joy and happiness that she pulls Spongebob close and kisses him. They both kissed each other before, but this was their first real kiss. They enjoyed every second of it and they didn't have to worry about helmets getting in the way. They ended the kiss when they heard familiar laughing. It was Patrick on the outside, they noticed that he had a camera around his neck. They heard Patrick on the outside laughing.
"Ha ha... I got you guys good. I knew you guys would get together."
The picture that Patrick took of them kissing comes out.
"Oh yeah... This is definitely going in my secret box."
Spongebob and Sandy laugh at this.
"Well Spongebob if we're soul mates and if we're meant to be together I guess we better get used to this."
"Right... And what's the point of putting that picture in Patrick's secret box if it isn't a secret?"
"Aw let him have his fun Spongebob."
They watch as Patrick runs off laughing. Spongebob knew he didn't have to stay at Sandy's treedome anymore, but it didn't seem like Sandy was in that much of a hurry for him to leave. Instead they wanted to spend as much time as they could together. As it was getting late they shared another kiss as the sun was setting. Nothing could separate these two soul mates.

You always end your stories with the most cutest sentences! "Nothing can seperate these two soul mates." This story was great! I really liked it how the Dutchman couldn't harm them and then when Patrick took that picture for his secret box
